Chase is an adorable little Yorkie. At only 5 pounds he comes with a bit of attitude! About 6 years old, he was originally owned as a by a family with small children. For 2 years they pulled his tail/ears, dropped him and hit him. Thankfully the family surrendered him to Chase's groomer (she cut his hair from the early age of 6 weeks), and he was adopted by a single woman. But then her home situation changed, and she was unable to keep Chase. Because of his earlier abuse, on walks, Chase charged other dogs. The veterinarians labeled him with separation anxiety and put him on Prozac. Sadly his home life did not change and he was bored. Chase got his second chance when he was surrendered to NAPR! Now in his foster home he lives with other dogs and attends doggy daycare. His medication has been decreased (with veterinarian guidance), but he remains on a low dose. Chase is still reactive however, and snaps at people when they grab at him, but then he quickly accepts them. A gentle hand and approach is needed until he trusts you! But Chase so wants to love and trust, and he attaches himself quickly to people he is familiar with! Chase goes to the door when he wants outside and will require a fenced yard. He rides well in a car and loves cuddle time! This pup requires a special home. NO children and would do best as an only dog. Chase will not be a "move in perfect dog". He has been failed by humans and will need a patient owner willing to give him time and "rules" to follow. His foster mom will be happy to share information and to answer questions that you might have. Please think about giving this little boy a chance at a forever, loving home!
