******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Mila, 2 year old spayed female, Pit Bull/AmStaff mix, 45 pounds. Mila is in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Mila is in the same foster home as Mylo, another Dizzy Dog. Mila plays well with all dog sizes - her foster mom has two <15lb chihuahuas and a dachshund, a 60lb mix breed female, 64lb red heeler mix male, and then Mylo, a 55lb cattle dog mix. She seems to most enjoy the larger female and male dogs, as they can keep up with her energy. Mila does well when meeting other dogs but her foster notes she has a bad habit of jumping on her canine buddies as her preferred method of greeting, and some dogs may not like this. She also hogs food and treats, scarfing down her own and then going out to steal her siblings', so her foster feeds Mila separately just to ensure continued household harmony. She's not shown any aggression though. Mila is smart, young and very teachable, quickly picking up on new lessons. She loves exploring, super curious. She can be outgoing but tends to stay near her Foster Mom, playing with toys or running around burning off some of her energy. She does need training to improve her positive doggy social interactions and play skills, as well as to perfect her leash walking as she is not very good on one. She's a strong puller and side winds. She would likely do best in a Gentle Leader head collar or no-pull style harness until she masters this art. Mila has not been crate trained yet, since there is always someone home and she has access to a doggy door to come and go as she pleases. She has proven herself trustworthy to be left alone while unsupervised as long as no food has been left out and the trash cans are empty. For this reason, Mila may do best in a home where someone is home more than they're away. Mila has been around her foster's young to older grandkids (1y, 10y, and preteens) and done well, as she's not interested in them much. While Mila would probably be okay with kids of all ages, we generally recommend homes with children who are over the age of 10yrs, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. We do not have any history with cats. She is very people oriented and follows her Foster Mom around everywhere, laying in the kitchen while she's washing dishes and then sitting close by outside once done. She does not seem to have ever met a stranger, and gets super excited to say hello to new friends. She is affectionate and very cuddly, laying down nearby and asking for pets and kisses. She looks like she's got eyeliner around her eyes, and always has a sweet soft look about her which is in contrast to her very deep bark. Mila's ideal home would be with a moderately to very active family who has no/older kids, at least one other dog, and wants a running partner or outdoors companion. She's still young and needs some training (she gets too excited, poor leash skills, etc.) and redirection to correct unwanted behaviors, but she is a very sweet girl who craves love and attention, and strives to please with lots of reassurance. If her Furever Family is patient and understanding, and gives her ample time to adjust, she will do well no matter who makes this girl their own. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
