Meet Tick After spending weeks as a stray, Tick came to us carrying more than 100 ticks—and somehow, not a shred of bitterness. He’s calm, affectionate, and has a kind soul that shines through in everything he does. He loves rolling in the grass, tossing toys around the play yard, and settling in for quiet snuggles on the couch. Tick is fully house-trained and always keeps his kennel clean overnight. Because of the heavy tick exposure, he’ll need a repeat test in a few weeks to check for any tick-borne illnesses. Even if something shows up, he can still head home—with a few weeks of antibiotics and a whole lot of love. He’s been through a lot, and now he’s ready for a home that gives back the same gentle care he offers so freely. He was quite shy and feeling unwell when he first arrived and we wanted to give him time to heal before introducing him to other doggo's here. **In Order to adopt an unspayed/unneutered dog from HSMC, You must live within an hour of the shelter. You will initially "Foster to Adopt" the dog and then the adoption will be finalized when they are brought back for their spay/neuter surgery. You will need to bring the dog back for vaccines and exams prior to their spay/neuter surgery** Our adoption fees vary, Shelter Dogs are $180, Prison Dogs are $250, Puppies are $300, and Popular Pure-Breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, de-worming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a 1 year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $21, this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be done using credit card or cash.
