Litha
Young • Female • Medium
Meet the Solstice Sisters. You may remember when on the summer solstice, June 21st, these 4 cats were dumped inside of our meet and greet office while we were preparing for another Caturday of Open Hours. Our morning volunteers explained to the woman that we were not available for intakes but she claimed to have misunderstood what was communicated. She dropped the cats in the room and left. The girls were all spayed, combo tested, microchiped and began their vaccination sequences. While awaiting enough time to pass between their vaccines, these girls have gained quite the reputation amongst our volunteers. The Solstice girls are highly energetic and entertaining. They will pop out of their enclosures, sometimes finding ways to escape when any weakness in their space is exposed. They are curious little menaces. They often get the zoomies and feel the need to run back and forth across the room. These girls greatly enjoy each others company and would do best in pairs to keep each other company, but they are not bonded. Litha is Sols mini me. She is often seen shadowing her mama sitting next to her for comfort. They have almost identical colored coats. As Litha grows, she will likely look identical to her mama. All of these girls love soft beds. They go a little wild for some wet food. They have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for life. They enjoy playing and are easy going with being handled. She has a mischievous curiosity to her. She wants to explore everything but rarely takes the time to hold still long enough to enjoy her discoveries. Once Alban does slow down she will just melt into your arms for a good nap. All of these girls love soft beds. They go a little wild for some wet food. Shes got a bit of swagger to her that would be expected of a calico. She zooms around with confidence that this is HER world and we are just living in it. All of these girls love soft beds. Mama, Sol Midsummer, has done an excellent job raising her kittens given that shes hardly more than a kitten herself. She is very loving and protective of her babies. Sol is quite the hunter and loves to chase wand toys, strings, feathers, and other toys that mimic hunting. She is a gorgeous soft tabby with beautiful orange highlights. All of these girls love soft beds. They go a little wild for some wet food. They have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for life. They enjoy playing and are easy going with being handled. Raindrop
Young • Female • Medium
She is good with other cats, dogs, and great with kids. She has a sister. They spend a lot of time together, they play and snuggle each other, but we would not consider them bonded. Raindrop is a beautiful FIV+ siamese mix with beautiful blue eyes. Snowdrop is a gorgeous FIV- siamese mix with green eyes. FIV is contracted through hard bite wounds and mating activity. Since only one of the sisters tested positive, we assume she contracted it from one of the overly aggressive males from their colony tried to mate with her at a very young age. Kittens can get pregnant as young as 4 months old and have 3-4 litters per year if left unspayed. FIV is only transmitted through hard bites and intercourse. Spaying and neutering cats greatly reduces the spread of FIV. It is rare for female cats to contract FIV. As long as you monitor your cats health, keep them inside, and visit the veterinarian for any secondary infections you may not even notice a difference between FIV positive and negative cats. Weve included a few fact sheets from other shelters and veterinarians for more information about FIV. If you have any concerns about adopting an FIV+ cat, talk with your veterinarian. Raindrop is not a biter and has little chance of passing on the virus. She is super playful She loves to run and attack toys. She's got a lot of energy but once her energy runs out she needs snuggles and she isn't asking. Snuggle sessions are 100% mandatory and she will not take no for an answer Please visit our website www.ourfarmsanctuary.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.
