I’m a special 6 year old gal with so much love to give the right person. I can't really explain everything I've been through, but life has been pretty lonely and scary. I was at the shelter for 6 long months, and I've been working on myself at a foster home for another 2! I love to snuggle and wiggle around — my foster mom says I'm one of the sweetest dogs she's ever met. I'm a great listener, not just for all the classic commands, but I'll actually fall asleep in your arms if you talk softly to me. Basically, I could cuddle all day, but I'm self-reliant too; fully housetrained, a dainty eater, and clean as can be. When you're ready, I love to play, so if you've got a fenced yard, throwing arm, or like to hike — I'm yours! I'll be honest, I've made mistakes. I'm what's called "stranger reactive," AKA I'm really scared of new people and dogs. Because of this, I've nipped two strangers in the past. I’m learning better now, phew. I have toys to use when I’m upset, and wearing a muzzle on walks has been life-changing! Sure, it’s kinda embarrassing to wear special orthodontic headgear in public, but I know you won’t judge me. My foster mom says we can think of it as a "fancy hat" that helps me live a full, safe life. Now that I know my muzzle means adventure, I even help put it on ? I’ve been through a lot... but I’m not giving up! I practice my social butterfly skills every day: I've made new friends, gone on group walks and carpooled, and even visited the homes of total ‘strangers’ who turned out to be friends after all. I’ve always been easygoing and gentle with those I trust, and I don't show any food or toy guarding at all. What's mine is yours ? Thanks for taking the chance to get to know me... the hardest thing about being ‘stranger reactive’ is that it can make my would-be-friends stay strangers. Despite our best efforts to locate her family, no one has come forward. She wasn't wearing a collar and has no microchip. Ms. Twiggy is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs about 40 lbs. She's clearly had some training-she knows how to sit, her nails are neatly trimmed, and she absolutely loves to play. Now, she's ready for the next chapter: a loving forever home. If you're looking for a loyal, playful companion, Twiggy might be the perfect match.

**LOCATED IN FAIRBANKS** Comet Seven Months Old Spayed Female Labrador Retriever Mix Vaccinated Microchipped This special girl is Comet, perseverance is her middle name. Comet came into rescue with both her front legs severely broken from unknown circumstances. After undergoing surgery to correct the injury she was put on strict crate restriction for three weeks. While this is tough for such a young gal, Comet did amazing. She has been through so much pain and struggle in her young life, but she shines bright. Her gait will likely remain a little wonky, hopefully improving with time. But her loving heart is more than enough to make up for her hobble. Comet has been in a foster home with kids, dogs and cats. She does well in her crate and is working on house training. He loves to be in your lap or snuggle in bed. Oliver is house trained and kennel trained. Oliver is not a huge fan of small dogs and has not been around cats. He can be a bit of an escape artist and may seize the opportunity to bolt for an open door for unauthorized walkabouts. So homes with secure yards may be best for his safety! Oliver would love to be the center of your world and get all of your attention! Olivers former rescuer shared this: The most loyal dog Ive ever met. Extremely loving. Loves to give kisses. Great walking buddy. Loves rope tugging. We have been practicing sit with a firm voice and he is very food motivated with treats. Oliver has been an outside dog his entire life. He has survived starvation, neglect, and harsh winters without a dog home. That is why I believe he longs for affection and attention. When I was on my snow machine, Oliver once followed me 15 miles through the mountains. Isabella is used to using a dog door with no accidents. Sadie (A139136) is a 7-year-old lab who weighed over 80 lbs at intake and is looking to lose some weight! 08/02/25 This chunky girl is Sadie! Sadie arrived at the shelter as a stray and no one came to claim her. Miss Sadie loves to smile and loves her people. Sadie does not really care for other dogs, especially when they are walking by her kennel. For this reason, we are recommending using caution if planning to introduce Sadie to other dogs. She was found running with another dog that she seemed to get along with but we do not know their history or if they have lived together. Miss Sadie has done wonderfully at keeping her kennel clean while at the shelter, indicating she may be housebroken. Sadie was seen by our shelter vet for her weight and some thinning hair. She had bloodwork sent out, and we are awaiting results. There is suspicion that Sadie may have a thyroid issue, which can be easily managed with daily medication.
