Garnet
Adult • Female • Large
PASTURE PET ONLY Garnet is a 2015 Thoroughbred mare who stands at 16 hands tall and weighs 1082lbs. Green Garnet (Garnet) is an off the track Thoroughbred who came to us with x-rays that show narrowing between her spinal vertebrae (Kissing Spine), which means Garnet is unsound to ride so she will need to go out as a pasture pet only. However, Garnet would make a wonderful companion to another horse and pasture pet. She gets along with both the mares and geldings shes turned out with. She is easy to handle and very social. She will walk up to you in the pasture and is always happy to stand to be groomed. To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to [email protected] Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture. Raven
Adult • Female • Large
PASTURE PET ONLY Raven is a 2008 Thoroughbred mare who stands 15 hands tall and weighs 1,000 lbs. Raven is a very active mare looking for her forever home as a pasture pet. She prefers full turnout and can hold her own in a herd of mares and geldings. Raven has a condition that causes narrowing between her spinal vertebrae, which is commonly known as Kissing Spine. This condition can cause pain in the horse's back when riding. For this reason, Raven is available as a pasture pet only. Raven is easy to work for confident handlers, however, she needs consistency with her handler and she will test her boundaries with beginners. Raven picks up all 4 feet and will stand tied to be groomed. Raven is a smart and social mare and would excel with groundwork and could easily learn tricks and to work at liberty. Wendy
Adult • Female • Large
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Confident Intermediate Wendy is a 2009 Grade mare standing at 14 hands tall and weighs 808lbs. Wendy is a nervous but smart and affectionate pony with a lot to offer. Wendy has seemingly been passed around and lacks the consistency and trust she needs from people. She is willing to learn and she has really brightened up with treats and positive reinforcement. When approaching her in a stall or while standing tied, Wendy does get nervous especially when you are on her right side. She likes to be talked to and thrives off of affection from her people. She is also difficult to catch in an open field. She would do best in a facility that stalls their horses overnight or for feeding so she can get into a routine. Wendy stands quietly to be mounted from the ground. Under saddle she has a smooth but forward trot and a wonderful canter. Wendy is light in the mouth but doesn't understand leg pressure. She is hesitant to stay on the rail when riding but with consistency this will improve. Wendy is a sound and overall nice pony. She does spook in the arena and she is not ready for trails. With a calm and confident handler and rider Wendy could go in any direction. Jazz
Adult • Female • Medium
PASTURE PET ONLY Jazz is a 2012 Pony mare who stands at 12.2 hands tall and weighs 712lbs. Jazz is an adorable pony that loves attention. She gets along with the other ponies she's turned out with. Jazz has a non progressive neurological issue that causes her to be weak in the back end. She is unable to be ridden or carry any weight so she will need to be strictly a pasture pet. Jazz is comfortable without maintenance and she doesn't know she's different. She can run and play with the others, but she would struggle to kick out if she needed to. Jazz will stand to be brushed, and is gentle with children as she loves attention from anyone that she meets. Jazz's ideal home would be with someone who needed an easy keeper companion for another docile horse or pony. To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to [email protected] Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture. Aurora
Adult • Female • Medium
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Confident Beginner Aurora is a 2006 Mustang mare who stands at 13 hands tall and weighs 828 lbs. Aurora came in with 3 other older, untrained mustangs who have had very little handling. Aurora has learned to trust people and she enjoys affection and attention now too. Aurora is an easy keeper, she gets along well with the other mares and geldings shes turned out with. Aurora will stand tied with her person close by or actively grooming her, but leaving her to stand alone makes her anxious and will require more work. Aurora will pick up her front feet with no problems but with her backs she gets impatient. Aurora currently rides in a hackamore but we are working with her to take a bit. Aurora will stand to be mounted from a block or the ground. She has been ridden western, english and bareback. She has a smooth trot and a speedy canter thats equally as smooth. She genuinely likes to work and really enjoys going over jumps! Aurora can be strong headed and will occasionally brace against pressure when asking to stop or turn. The tendency to brace, is getting better the more we work with her. Aurora has been on the trail, but she is nervous and lacks consistent experience. Aurora is a wonderful mare with a lot of potential, she is sound, hardy and stocky. Aurora would be best matched with a confident beginner or an intermediate rider who can offer her consistency and more positive life experiences. Sassy
Senior • Female • Medium
PASTURE PET ONLY Sassy is a 1998 Appaloosa Pony mare who stands at 13.3 hands tall and weighs 692lbs. Sassy is the sweetest senior mare you will ever meet. We have all fallen in love with her here at the rescue. Sassy is a fun mare full of personality and love to give her people. She knows no strangers and will gladly approach anyone who comes into her pasture. Sassy adores neck and chin scratches! She will rest her head on your shoulder for affection and loves to get hugs and treats. Sassy likes her life on full turnout here, but she needs to be out with other older or docile horses. Her teeth have been floated in our care, but they aren't in the best shape and she struggles to eat hay, so we provide her with beat pulp / alfalfa mash in addition to her senior grain. Sassy has not been evaluated for riding because she isn't fit enough to carry any weight, but she's happy with her retired life and that's all that matters to us. We are hoping to find Sassy a wonderful home who can love her the same way we do. To get approved, please complete a lifetime lease application and email it to [email protected] Include with your completed application, pictures of your property including your barn, stall, or run-in shed, pasture, water source, and fencing both close up and a corner picture. Tiffany
Senior • Female • Medium
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Beginner Tiffany is a 1997 Morgan mare who stands at 14.2 hands tall and weighs 796lbs. Tiffany is full of life and personality! In the pasture, she is a dominate mare who won't tolerate being pushed around. Tiffany is hesitant to be caught, but she's easily persuaded with treats. Once in hand, she is well mannered and polite to lead. Tiffany stands tied but she will paw at the ground if you walk away. She enjoys being brushed but she can get defensive about picking up her back feet. Once she knows all you want is to pick it up, she settles into standing. Tiffany is a joy to ride! She stands to be mounted but she will start walking off before you are ready sometimes. She is light in the mouth and does well with a snaffle bit. She moves off leg pressure and listens to voice and seat cues making her easy to stop, back up and she turns off leg pressure too! She has a brisk walk, and a consistent trot that's easy to post and she will pick up a canter without hesitation! She also is easy to ride out on trails, Tiffany is happy to lead the way or follow from behind. Tiffany could benefit from a joint supplement or Equioxx, but she is sound without it. Tiffany would be a good candidate for a lesson program (nothing too strenuous), or she would be best matched with someone who wants an easy horse to around the farm. Honor (American Honor)
Adult • Male • Large
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Beginner Honor (Honor American) is a 2004 Thoroughbred who stands at 15.2 hands tall and weighs 1180lbs. Honor (Honor American) is a gentle gelding who gets along well with the geldings he's turned out with. Honor likes being with people and usually will walk up to great you in the pasture. Honor is easy to lead, he will stand to be groomed and tacked but he does pull back. Honor has a little bit of a swayback, with a properly fitted saddle, Honor will ride english, western bareback and out on trails. When riding on trails around the farm he is generally quiet going out but he gets excited to return. His behavior is easily managed with a confident rider but it could be too intimidating for a beginner. Honor is best behaved when riding in the arena. He is quiet and a little lazy making him a great match for a beginner. Honor has a consistent walk, trot and canter. He will give to bit pressure, neck rein and direct rein. He is a little dull in the sides but he does move from leg pressure and listen to his riders seat and voice cues too. Honor would be a good option for a beginner family or potentially a lesson horse that could also compete in 4-H. PASTURE PET ONLY Jazz Boy is a 2013 Thoroughbred gelding who stands at 16.1 hands tall and weighs 1,256lbs. All Western Jazz (Jazz Boy), is a social and affectionate gelding who enjoys being on full turnout. Jazz Boy has has a sore back that makes him too uncomfortable to ride so he is available as a pasture pet only. He doesn't require any maintenance and is otherwise pasture sound. He also is partly blind in his left eye but that doesn't seem to bother him at all, we were told its an old injury. In the pasture he will walk right up to you for attention and he loves to get treats and scratches. Jazz Boy is easy to catch, he has good ground manners and he stands quietly for the farrier. Jazz Boy does have a funny personality. In the summer if you turn a sprinkler on he will come running to stand in it! He loves to soak his whole face in the water hose and he will play in puddles too! Jazz Boy is looking for a pasture and family that is looking for a funny gelding to add to their family. Scooby Doo
Adult • Male • Large
CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Beginner Scooby is a 2005 Quarter horse X Draft cross that stands 14.1 hands tall and weighs 1,086lbs. Scooby Doo (Scooby) is a gentle gelding who came to us with floating bone chip in his right hind stifle. This doesn't effect his ability to ridden lightly around the farm or on most easy trails. Scooby won't be a good candidate for any high-impact riding such as jumping, or contesting. He gets along with the mares and geldings he is pastured with. Scooby is an easy keeper with EMD so he will need a dry lot and grass mix hay with no alfalfa and no grass access. He also requires daily medication for his thyroid that is prescribed by a veterinarian, its a simple powder that can be added to grain. Scooby is gentle and enjoys coming out for grooming and attention. He stands to be mounted from a block or the ground and he is very easy to turn, stop and back up. Scooby does give to leg pressure, and he direct reins only. Scooby is more "whoa than go", he can comfortably walk and trot under saddle but he isn't conditioned enough to pick up and hold a canter. Scooby will happily take you out for a relaxing trail ride around the farm. He is comfortable leading the way or plotting along behind a group. Scooby would be best matched with a beginner rider who is interested in an easy horse for a relaxing ride.
