Mimi
Adult • Female • Medium
Mimi is a goofy, spirited, shy but loving 2 year old Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever mix who loves to go on walks, play with other dogs, and be silly around the house! Mimi was surrendered to our local high kill shelter by her previous owner, who could no longer keep her. Mimi is already a reserved and shy dog, so being in a loud and unfamiliar shelter setting was understandably hard on her. Due to her fear and nervousness, she was put on the euthanasia list soon after arriving at the shelter. Luckily, we were able to save her before that happened! Since being with us, Mimi has started to show her goofy side a little more and while she is still rather anti-social, you can tell she does want to be near people and be able to trust them. At our facility, she is let out with her fellow adoptable dogs on a schedule. She mainly sticks around them and plays very well (and hard!) but she will come up to you and display some excitement. She is not the biggest lover of pets yet, but once she gets into a home environment she will no doubt turn into such a cuddly girl! Though she does love other dogs, Mimi's true soul mate is FOOD. Meal time gets her the most excited you'll ever see her! This is when she'll get the most vocal and let you know that your time is ticking to get that food ready for her! (She can be a bit bossy if she thinks you're not preparing it quickly enough). The fastest way to Mimi's heart is through her stomach, and she is highly food motivated and smart which makes training go much more smoothly. She is quite an intelligent girl and can pick up on what you're feeling or wanting her to do really well. She is a gentle soul and just wants someone to give her the best rest of her life ever. She'll need an understanding, patient, loving person to help her through her challenges and in return, she'll shower you with loyalty, affection, and companionship. Please consider giving this shy girl a chance! Mimi is crate, potty, and leash trained, has good house manners, and is good with other dogs. She is incredibly smart and easily trainable once you gain her trust! Mimi is about 55lbs and is fully grown (though she will definitely try to convince you that she needs to be fed more). Mimi is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
Big Mama
Adult • Female • Medium
***Help save Houston dogs lives! Our shelter is located just outside of Houston TX (but we transport to your area), not only would you be adopting an amazing dog but you'd also give room to the next dog that needs our help! Big Mama is an affectionate, athletic, adventure-loving 3 year old American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier mix who enjoys going on walks and meeting new people! Big Mama was a hefty girl when she was found, weighing in at over 70lbs, but she is now back to a healthier weight of around 60lbs. Big Mama was found laying in the middle of the road in a neighborhood before a kind couple decided to save her. Unfortunately, they had a pup who was not good with other dogs and with no plan in place for Big Mama, they had to take her to the local shelter. Being a pittie mix, she was quickly put on the euthanasia list after her stray hold was up. Through the tireless networking of her original finders, we became aware of Big Mama and decided to get her to safety! Big Mama is incredibly people friendly and loves to cuddle. She can be unaware of her size at times, so when she's zooming around the yard at high speeds you'd better watch out! Despite her being overweight, this girl can MOVE! When she was staying at her finder's house in the backyard, she would often jump up on their tall patio table to sunbathe! She loves to lounge around when she's indoors, but once she's outside it's gametime! Big Mama has done well with most of the pups she's met, but she seems to do best around medium to large size male dogs. She tends to be more assertive and dominant with other female dogs which most dogs don't appreciate, so a home with only male dogs would be best for her. While she does enjoy playing with others, she does not need a doggy sibling to live her best life! Big Mama is potty and crate trained, knows sit and shake, is very smart, and is good on a leash. Due to her energy level and being unaware of how big she is, she should ideally go to a home without young children
