Hemi
Senior • Male • Medium
Did you just say to yourself, that what your home is missing is a cat with the biggest thumbs in town? If so, we have the kitty for you! This is the handsome as can be, Hemi. Hemi came to us through no fault of his own, but only after his previous owner was unable to care for him any longer. Sweet Hemi is a senior boy, with an estimated birthdate of 11/1/10, so he's about 14 years. old. Even though Hemi is an older kitty, he still gets around just fine, and even plays quite a bit. He really likes wand toys that have strings attached to them. But lets be honest, he's an old guy, and his most favorite thing in the world is to be cuddled up on a couch with his person, or staring out the window from a nice, soft kitty tree. Hemi is on sensitive tummy dry food and takes medication for hyperthyroidism twice a day (and he's really good about taking it.) Shelter staff can give you more information about this, if you are interested in him. Hemi is a good boy and doesn't ask for much. We would love to see him find his forever home soon, as the shelter is just no place for a senior kitty, who just wants a peaceful place to live. We think he would do best as an only cat, and we don't know for sure how he is with dogs, but would likely be fine with a respectful dog. Do you have room in your home to adopt this pretty cool polydactyl boy? If so, please complete an application and once approved, schedule a meet and greet. West Jefferson, Ohio #hsmcohio Our adoption fee is $100.00 for kittens up to 6 months of age and $80 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a microchip, spay or neuter, set of shots, de-worming, and a 1-year rabies vaccine (if old enough). Fees can be made by cash or credit card. Please go to our website, www.hsmcohio.org to fill out an application.
Blake
Young • Male • Large
Say hello to the sweet as can be, Blake. This wonderful boy and his brother, Marvin Maxwell were brought to us after a kind family found them as stray kitties, and cared for them until we had room for them at the shelter. Blake has an estimated birthdate of 4/23/24, so he's just about 1 year young. In addition to being the sweetest boys, these two cuties are large kitties too. At just a year old, they are already a little over 13 pounds! Blake is a wonderful boy with a laid back personality. He loves pets and chin scratches, and never says no to a nice brushing as well. Blake and Marvin have both discovered a love of kitty catnip kickers, and they both have a ball wrestling around with them, and soaking up all of the fun associated with them. They also like crinkle balls, furry mice and toys with feathers. These two love to snuggle up together too. While it isn't a requirement to adopt the two of them together, it would wonderful if they could be since they are the best of friends and have been together their whole lives. Both Blake and Marvin seem to get along with other kitties, and haven't been bothered by the kitties that they have met at the shelter. They would also do just fine as lone kitties, or better yet, adopted together into their very own forever home. We don't know how they feel about dogs, but we suspect that they would likely do fine with cat respectful dogs who give them some space. Sweet Blake and Marvin would likely do just fine with kids too, and would probably have a ball playing with kids. Would you like to meet the handsome Blake, and hopefully his brother, Marvin Maxwell too? If so, please fill out an application for them and once approved, schedule a meet and greet! Donny
Young • Male • Medium
Say hello to the cool as can be, Donny. This handsome boy and his brother were born to a stray momma, and taken in by a nice family who took great care of them until we had room for them at the shelter. Donny has an estimated birthdate of 7/11/24, so he's about 1 year young. In addition to being such a good looking boy, Eddie is very sweet and loving as well. He's the more outgoing and gregarious of the brothers. He likes to be in the thick of the action, and he wants to be a busy boy. He loves to run and play in the kitty room when he's given the opportunity. He is an explorer as well, and he loves nothing more that to check out his surroundings, climb any cat tree in sight and then keep an eye on the world from any available window. This boy will be very happy to have his own cat tree and climging tower in his forever home. Kitties are natural born climbers and it's a really important part of their enrichment and overall happiness. This sweetie is an fun-filled guy who loves everyone that he meets, and he's ready for his forever family or person! He gets along well with other kitties and would do great with a feline friend in his home. He's a super social boy and would likely get bored without a playmate. He hasn't met any dogs at the shelter, but we think that he would likely be just fine with a gentle and respectful dog. Mama (Kiki)
Young • Female • Medium
This is a courtesy post for a lady (Rae) who is taking care of four outdoor cats that she's been feeding and providing winter shelter for since the Summer of 2020 shortly after they were TNR'd as kittens. Three of them (listed below) would make good indoor cats (Rae can pick them up and they try to get inside, etc). Rae will be moving across the country into an apartment this summer and wants to make sure they are cared for. Even asking for this help is difficult because she loves them very much and will miss them greatly. Rae will provide costs for vetting them, and any other costs related, (all got shots in 2020. The only one vetted since then is Binx who needed medical care and got vax updates at that time. Rae can provide all paperwork). All three cats are spayed/neutered and have had initial vaccines. Vet care will be updated prior to the cats going to new homes. The Cats (all black with a tipped ear): Binx: (Male) He is funny in that he goes through waves of being extremely friendly, being ok being held and will cuddle with Rae in the hammock, and then will get very skittish for a time. Every single day, he stands at the window begging to say hello to my indoor cats so Rae thinks he would be a good candidate to be adopted into a home with existing cats if he can’t stay with Mama and Jiji. Rae wants to get him inside ASAP due to his mosquito allergy (his ears scab over every summer from being bitten). Mama (Kiki): (Female) VERY friendly. Asks for attention, will sit with Rae. She was TNR'd while pregnant and adopted the others once she was released. She allows Rae to pick her up and hold her for hugs. She has hyperesthesia on her back, but loves head and neck scritches. She and Jiji are always together; splitting up those two is another reason Rae has had a hard time, because ideally they'd get to live together. Jiji: (Male) Also very friendly, will cry and follow you for attention. He allows Rae to pick him up momentarily. Bonded with Mama and likes saying hello to the indoor cats. If you would like to adopt one or more of the kitties, please email us at [email protected]. Vet care will be updated prior to the cats going to their new home.
Arwen
Young • Female • Medium
Miss Arwen is named after the Elven Queen from Lord of the Rings. And she is definitely an ethereal, multi-dimensional feline who just happened to appear in the back yard of one of our board members. Slipping out of the woods on little soft padded paws, Arwen came each day looking for food during the winter before finally allowing herself to be captured on Christmas Eve so she could have a better life. Arwen has been overlooked and really deserves a loving home. She is living with a bunch of geriatric old men cats who do not want to play and get offended when she tries to chase them or jump out for a game of wrestle mania. They want none of her antics. So, she really needs a friend who is younger and who does want to play and not just sleep. When Arwen went to the vet, she was already spayed, but had not been ear-tipped to allow us to know that. We did ear-tip her, but she was so friendly that we knew she needed an inside home and did not really want to be frolicking in nature any longer--especially not with the coyotes in the woods. Arwen has been vaccinated, tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV, microchipped, dewormed, and treated preventatively for fleas/ticks. She is about 2-years-old and is good with other cats. Arwen loves to be petted. She is a huge purr bug and purrs up a storm, butting you with her head to get more attention. She does not really like to be picked up, but she will sit beside you looking for love as long as you are willing to rub her head. She is a little shy at first, but as soon as she knows you, she comes running to see you and is all over you for pets and food. If you would like to adopt this little elven girl who walks on her tippy-toes when she braids around your legs, please email us at [email protected] for an adoption application and more information.
