Tori
Senior • Female • Medium
Meet Tori! She came to us in very bad shape with her whole body covered in infection and with nails so long we can't imagine how she was walking on them. She was pretty skittish and didn't like loud noises due to a lifetime of verbal abuse. Today, nearly a year later, we are still taking care of this sweet girl and trying to give her a great life. We always have at least a few dogs like this. Ones that may or may not be adoptable, but dogs that we've committed to. Sometimes they stay in the RO family as hospice fosters and we love them for as long as we possibly can, knowing that it's very unlikely someone would be willing to adopt them. We've had a lot of conversations with Tori's vet since she arrived. She was diagnosed with liver disease shortly after joining us, and sometimes it takes a little while to gauge the severity. It was initially thought that Tori had just months to live, but here we are a year later! While this disease is incurable, she has been responding well to the meds, and her doctors have estimated that she has another 2-3 years left. We know that no one is looking for an older dog with incurable liver disease, but we are hoping that someone out there is willing to love Tori for the time that she has left. The first 5 years of her life were pretty awful, and even if she only has a few left, we want them to be awesome. Tori doesn't care for cats or other dogs, and we don't think she's meant for a home with children, but she would be a wonderful companion for someone who wants a dog that is already trained and just wants to be loved. Tori's adoption fee is $195. Meet and greets can be arranged for approved applicants. Apply at www.rescuedohio.org. Thanks to Emma Mortellaro, (614) Media Group, for providing photos.
Meg
Young • Female • Medium
Meet Meg! Breed: Greyhound mix Age: 1 year Weight: 40-45 lbs Size: Medium Gender: Female Energy Level: Medium-High (runs on zoomies and snuggles) Bonded Pair: Must be adopted with her brother and full time sidekick, Peter. Meg is a vibrant and affectionate young pup who's been through a lot in her short life. She and her brother, Peter, were born in an unplanned litter in rural Ohio. While their siblings found homes, Meg and Peter weren't so lucky. They ended up in a shelter at just a few months old and stayed there until January 2025. Despite growing up in a shelter, Meg's sweet and joyful personality has always shone through. Meg has been Peter's ride or die since day one. Through shelter life, medical recovery, and every sniff filled backyard adventure, these two have stuck together. When Peter had a broken leg, Meg stepped into her role as a nurse, therapist and snack delivery service. Their bond is something truly special. They've supported each other through everything, and now it's time for them to find a home that will love them both. Meg's Personality: Meg is a total social butterfly! She loves people and adores other dogs. She's expressive, spunky, affectionate, and always up for an adventure. After a fun day, she's perfectly content to crash on the couch or snuggle in a comfy dog bed for some belly rubs and head scratches. Meg also enjoys car rides and doggy daycare, it's all just another exciting adventure for her! Dog-Friendly: Yes. Meg loves other dogs! Cat-Friendly: She may be curious and playful, but doesn't seem likely to harm a cat. Kid-Friendly: Yes. Although Meg and Peter have quite a bit of energy and can be jumpy when they are excited, they have been very gentle interacting with children. Apartment-Friendly: No Fence Requirement: A fenced yard is required. Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Ideal Home: Meg and Peter are still learning about the comforts of home life and are thoroughly enjoying every minute. Their ideal family will include them in daily activities and give them lots of love and affection. While they're happiest as a pair, they don't panic when separated, and it's important their future family helps them maintain some independence. Meg Loves: Playing with other dogs Zoomies in the backyard Toys and treats Being silly and making you laugh Snuggling after playtime Going for walks Dislikes: There isn't much that Meg doesn't like! Meg and Peter's adoption fee as a pair is $500. Fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, flea/heartworm prevention, and heartworm testing (negative if over 6 months).
