PLEASE NOTE: If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here: http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets. The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home. No application is approved prior to the home visit being done. At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer. We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
Ricky - Fairfield
Adult • Male • Small
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ricky's adoption donation is $425, and he is being fostered in Central Ohio. He has been neutered, microchipped, and is fully vaccinated-including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. He has tested negative for heartworms and is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Ricky has also had a dental cleaning to ensure his smile is as healthy as his spirit. Ricky's journey has been one of incredible resilience. He came into rescue from a local shelter, where he had arrived as a severely matted stray. He was in so much discomfort that he couldn't be touched and had to be shaved under sedation to relieve his pain. Since then, Ricky has made a truly amazing transformation-not just in appearance, but in trust, confidence, and joy. Today, Ricky is a happy and playful little guy who's discovering just how good life can be. Ricky really loves his human, whatever you are doing he wants to join, he's a very curious little guy. Ricky would do best with an experienced dog owner as he can be a little spicy at times. He would do best as an only dog or with a very laid back dog as Ricky thinks he deserves all the attention! Spoiled guy! Ricky is so full off personality; he lives to please his human. His favorite things are zoomies, walks, going on adventures and chillin on the couch with his human. Ricky is ready to find his forever home with a family who will appreciate his sweet nature, playful energy, and the incredible progress he's made. He's not just looking for a home-he's looking for a family.PLEASE NOTE: If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. ALEXANDRIA
Adult • Female • Large
Patience is a virtue when it comes to rescue … it is not a race but rather a journey that we take with these abandoned, neglected and often abused souls that find their way to us. Alexandria is certainly one of those souls. She was presumably abandoned near the Licking and Franklin county line early in the summer and ran in fear for months not knowing who to trust or evade and therefore in full flight mode despite many attempts to help her from Licking county, Fairfield County, Franklin County, Westerville City, Volunteer Pet Recovery and MANY good samaritans and dedicated keyboard warriors. She was hit by cars at least twice but somehow continued on. True dedication from the Volunteer Pet Recovery team ultimately resulted in a successful capture via a live trap after many seemingly never ending weeks of surveillance, trap relocation and wasted meals in hopes of luring her in. Once trapped however, Alexandria simply melted and has become a favorite among all that meet her. She LOVES belly rubs, she thrives on attention, and she seems to thoroughly enjoy the company of humans and other four legged friends. She definitely has separation anxiety, an obvious “trauma response” and likely something that will need managed indefinitely through medications abc structure, but SHE IS WORTH IT. Lexi is crate trained and seems housebroken. We estimate her to be 6-7years old but full of life. She seems to be an American Bulldog mix and 65lbs. She is spayed and current on her preventative care. $350 If you would like to meet ALEXANDRIA please complete an application for adoption, copy and paste this link into your browser https://fs17.formsite.com/adoptionscc/form1/index Any vaccinations/boosters due after adoption is finalized will be the new owner's responsibility. All animals are current at time of adoption but in some cases a booster series is required or a vaccine cannot be given due to age and cannot be completed prior to adoption Our adoptable animals come to us from various sources, the most common being from an animal shelter who is unable to handle their physical or mental needs in the shelter setting but believe with the appropriate care, they can become adoptable.
CHILI
Adult • Female • Medium
As we have “preached” over and over again, heartworm disease is so easy to prevent and so tough, expensive, and time consuming to treat. And still, here we are again with another “shelter dog” whose new lease on life began when she found herself on the euthanasia list because the shelters are overrun with dogs and underfunded for medical care. To make matters worse, we didn’t find out Chili was heartworm positive til after she had spent 6 weeks in the shelter raising the litter of puppies she was dumped with. Although a little shy at first, she is a happy go lucky gal who loves the company of other dogs, is very docile with kids, is an amazing snuggler, and is an excellent leash walking companion and traveling co-pilot. She is crate trained and housebroken, very fast and agile in her movements and very responsive to training as she aims to please!! Fortunately for Chili, it appears we caught her heartworm disease early in that she “tested positive” but did not have any Xray changes, bloodwork changes, or clinical signs suggesting she was “sick” with the disease ... however we still treated her with the staged treatment recommendations of the American Heartworm Society. Chili is eager to find a home of her own. Vet reference required. Approx 3-4yr old, FS, Australian Cattledog/Heeler mix, 45lbs Adoption fee $300 If you would like to meet CHILI please complete an application for adoption, copy and paste this link into your browser https://fs17.formsite.com/adoptionscc/form1/index Any vaccinations/boosters due after adoption is finalized will be the new owner's responsibility. OKRA
Adult • Female • Medium
Malinois lovers sought! Okra is a petite gal who is looking for someone to keep her busy and engaged while also nurturing her soft side. Okra was picked up as a stray by the dog shelter but never claimed. Although very nervous/anxious in new situations, Okra passed her temp test with flying colors at the shelter and presented for her spay only to be found to be heartworm positive, thereby derailing her potential for adoption. She was moved to our care for a prolonged treatment process and will be ready for adoption soon however keeping her in a foster home instead of a shelter environment was needed to maintain her mental sanity, hence why she is in our care. Okra is a busy and anxious gal when not engaged with her people so a family who is able to make her part of their daily activities is ideal as is someone who wants an active partner for exercise and adventure! More info coming soon once she completes her treatment but feel free to reach out with questions in advance if you are considering Okra as a potential new family member. Belgian Malinois mix, FS, 42lbs, 2yrs. $400 If you would like to meet OKRA please complete an application for adoption, copy and paste this link into your browser https://fs17.formsite.com/adoptionscc/form1/index Any vaccinations/boosters due after adoption is finalized will be the new owner's responsibility.
