Wiggles (& Eli)
Adult • Male • Medium
Meet Wiggles (& Eli) Eli is the wiry-haired hair grey and white pup pictured with his brother Wiggles- the brown and white pup. Both were adopted a few years ago from a rural humane society, but their loving owner and they lived quite happily with him until recently, when their owner became very sick with a poor prognosis. While he wanted to keep Eli and Wiggles with him, he knew that they were missing out on finding their forever home and did not want to wait until it was too late for him to see them settled. Eli is a bit more independent than Wiggles, who relies heavily on Eli, but we will not separate these two, and they will only be considered to a home together! Wiggles loves to play ball and often times likes to just walk around with a ball in his mouth! Both dogs are house and crate-trained and seem to walk well on leashes. We have not taken them to adoption events yet this year so we will post updates as we get to know them better. They have met other dogs at the office and were friendly with them and are not reactive to other dogs passing their kennel. Eli showed a lot of attention to our cats in the catio so we do not think he would do well in a home with them at this time. Eli is just under 70 lbs and Wiggles is right around 50 lbs. Both dogs are vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm and tick-borne diseases. Eli & Wiggles will be considered for a foster or a foster-to-adopt home. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven. To meet our pets: Call our office at 614-471-9000 or click on the pet that you are interested in and send an email. We will be happy to discuss the adoption process with you and set up a visit at the time of contact. The foster dogs are in foster homes and most of the cats reside at our office. The adoption process includes a lease manager reference (if applicable), a veterinarian reference, and a home visit. The pooches that visit your home will not be left there at the end of the visit. We take them back home with us so your family can discuss to ensure he/she is a good fit for your home. There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees as follows: $300 for Dogs ($600 total for the pair) $100 for Cats All pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (dogs), fiv/leukemia tested (cats), & micro-chipped. Known medical conditions are discussed at the time of inquiry.
Po- The Dragon Warrior
Baby • Male • Medium
Meet the Underdogs. Named after Underdog movie characters, we have Rambo, Rocky, Rudy, Erin Brockovich, and Po- the Dragon Warrior! These sweet little babies were found abandoned in a box next to a dumpster and a good Samaritan had found them when he took his garbage out that morning. They were born either early that morning or late the night before as they still had freshly chewed umbilical cords. They were so tiny and cold by the time they got to us we did not think they all would survive, however, after learning to feed from a bottle they have thrived under our care! We had an Embark DNA test donated to us which showed the puppies were 50% Husky, 29% Pit Bull Terrier, 14% American Bulldog, and 5% boxer. Po is, and always has been, the largest of the litter. He is around 20 lbs at 11 weeks old and is what my husband describes as Lazy. He will play and wrestle with his brother Rocky but gives us pretty quick. He likes to follow the larger dogs in the home around and copy them. Po is learning how to walk on a leash and is still biting and chewing at people and other dogs- as to be expected at this age- but he is learning more every day. He will cry out when he has to potty and sleeps in a crate all night. He is just learning to go to the door when he has to go outside so he will need someone who is home during the day to take him out often while he is still potty training. He is also very vocal when meeting new dogs and playing and will often do a growl and bark because he does not know yet how to say hi. He was recently neutered, but is still too young to complete his vaccines so he will have the same adoption restrictions below as a foster to adopt puppy at this time. Underdog Litter: 1. Rambo- Dark brown boy- already in a foster-to-adopt home 2. Rocky- Runt, brown boy with black and white face. Most independent, but gets very feisty and active after eating! 3. Rudy- Light brown with white across the back. Blue eyes. Very confident, bit of a trouble maker! 4. Erin Brockovich- Grey, white, and red female. Only female in litter, very vocal, and loves to be held. 5. Po, the Dragon Warrior- largest of litter, black and white like a panda! Quiet. But loves to follow around the big dogs. Bit of a weight bully when wrestling his littermates. All of them love the water and their little plastic pool. They will put their feet in the water bowl too. They will howl with their head thrown back for attention or if they need to potty. They are NOT potty trained, crate trained or leash trained. They are learning. Special requirements to Adopt these guys: 1. Must have a work-from-home or adult rotating schedule. They need to potty every few hours so there must be an adult at home with them at all times for the next few months. 2. Must be able to bring them to the office every 2-3 weeks for the next 2 months while they are completing their medical. They will need vaccine boosters and neutering all done by us here at the office. Your schedule must allow you time to bring them to their appointments. 3. Must sign up for puppy training classes after adoption. Most of the dogs we see in rescue are abandoned or surrendered due to lack of basic obedience. As a foster we rely on you to train them for their forever homes. Since you will be fostering to adopt you must take that on yourself. We do have a volunteer that offers puppy socialization classes at this age on thursday evenings. It is not a requirement that you go to her class, but it is offered and recommended. 4. Must have knowledge of PARVO and other illnesses that puppies can get and agree not to take them to places like dog parks where they can be exposed until they are fully vaccinated. Must agree to monitor their health and let us know if there are any concerns immediately. Must agree not to place puppy in unsafe conditions or around dogs that have not been fully vaccinated. 5. Must adhere to all other adoption requirements and procedures as below: Must live within 45 miles of our Columbus office (For other Ohio rescues, check out our Resources Page) Must be 24 or older to adopt Resident pets must be spayed/neutered, UTD on Vaccines and preventions Adoption agreement required Adoption Fees: Adult Dogs – $300

Rudy has always been the most confident of the litter and he loves to dig in the yard and play in the pool. He is the only one who has ears standing straight up, but the others in the litter may have their ears come up eventually. Rudy has the most striking blue eyes and is starting to calm and cuddle a little more. He is learning to walk on a leash and sleeps in a crate all night without accidents. He is also starting to potty train with more space being given, and has not had any accidents recently. Like most puppies, they are all learning not to play bite. He is scheduled for his neuter and microchip mid-August and has already started his vaccines. Rudy and Erin will be considered for a foster to adopt home prior to her surgery. Underdog Litter: 1. Rambo- Dark brown boy- already in a foster-to-adopt home 2. Rocky- Runt, brown boy with black and white face. Most independent, but gets very feisty and active after eating! 3. Cricket- Willows Litter
Young • Male • Large
Meet Cricket. Cricket is one of 5 puppies born to Willow in a barn after she was abandoned by her owners. We believe they were born in late October. Cricket is the runt of the litter, but he definitely has a big personality! Cricket likes to wrestle with his bigger siblings and loves being the center of attention, although Roo will often fight with him for the spotlight. Since we are not sure what breed the dad is we do not know how big he will get. He is 9 months old and right around 55 lbs. We don't think he will get much bigger. Cricket has been in a foster home with several other dogs, including his siblings; however, he does seem to have a high prey chase drive, so he will not be adopted to homes with small dogs or cats. We recommend he be the only dog in the home. He is mostly a "lazy" dog but as any young man, he does have periods of energy and would love a yard to play in. Rudy- Willows Litter
Young • Male • Large
Meet Rudy. Rudy is one of 5 puppies born to Willow in a barn after she was abandoned by her owners. We believe they were born in late October 2024. Rudy is a beautiful rich Mahogany color and seems to be one of the larger boys of the litter. Rudy was adopted rather quickly, but unfortunately his owner had a severe medical accident and knew that she would not be able to continur to provide for him so he was recently returned to our care. Rudy is approximately 55 lbs. He has been through puppy training classes and would go on walks twice a day with his previous owner. He also did well with small children in the home. He has been great with his siblings Cricket and Roo when they became reunited. He does pull on the leash, but does better with an easy walk harness. More work will need to be done on leash manners and recall. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven. Kevin/Scooby
Young • Male • Large
Kevin came to us as a stray very underweight. He was found on someone's porch malnourished at around 6 months of age. Kevin was adopted after a few months in foster care and renamed Scooby. Unfortunately, Scooby needs to be rehomed to a house with a yard and a family with more time to spend with him. His adopter loves him, but has had a change in her occupation and now works two jobs and lives in an apartment. He is approximately 2 years old and a DNA test revealed him to be mostly Presa Canario- even though we don't really see the breed resemblance. Kevin/Scooby has some leash reactivity and resource guarding to wards other dogs. He will be working with a trainer on this, and currently lives with a GSD that he does well with. He also attends daycare and does well without the presence of toys or food. The owner has the following to say about him: Meet Scooby — a sweet, energetic 2-year-old mixed breed pup who is neutered, fully vaccinated, and full of love to give! He’s happiest outside playing fetch, tug of war, or just soaking up the sun. At the end of the day, he’s a cuddle bug who adores snuggles, kisses, and being close to his person. That said, Scooby needs a home that can offer him the time, structure, and patience he deserves. He’d thrive with a fenced yard and ideally as the only dog in the home. While he gets along well with my GSD, I’ve noticed he does best in a one-dog household. I’ve had the joy of loving and caring for Scooby for the past year, and it breaks my heart to rehome him. But being on my own, I simply don’t have the time he truly needs. This decision hasn’t been easy, but it’s one I’m making with his best interest at heart. Scooby deserves a forever family that’s fully committed to loving him, training him, and giving him the best life possible. Let's give Scooby the chance he deserves to live a happy life. Dogs that come from starvation beginnings often show resource guarding, including reactivity when they feel that another dog may take away what is theirs. With a lot of love and patience, we believe Scooby will get through this fear phase. Requirements for Adoption: **Must live in the Central Ohio area ( within 45 miles of our office) For rescues/shelters across Ohio, visit: ColumbusDogConnection.com/RescuesShelters.html **Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. **Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.? **There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees are as follows: $300 for Adult Dogs (6yrs & younger) $200 for Senior Dogs (7 yrs and older) $100 for Cats
Benjamin
Young • Male • Medium
Meet Benjamin Button! Benjamin was dumped at Mock Park back in April. A good Samaritan posted on the Ring app that they were at the park and he was jumping on cars trying to climb into them through the window. A few other people commented that they saw him there doing the same thing so it is pretty obvious his owner pulled into the park, dumped him out the car door or window, and drove away. Poor Benjamin was just trying to climb back into cars to find his way back home! Another person who saw the post on the Ring app had her partner pick him up as he was in the area, and they brought him to a local veterinarian to check for a microchip. As fate would have it, our foster dog coordinator was currently at the same vet with a different foster dog, and after confirming there was no microchip, she said we could take him into our program. Benjamin is a small guy, so small in fact that we thought he was a puppy until we examined him more closely and found all adult teeth! He is now at a healthy weight of around 30 lbs and is not expected to grow anymore, as we believe he is around 1 year old. We are also guessing he is a boxer and/or bully/pitbull mix based on his head shape and coloration- but without a DNA test, we really do not know what breed he is. Benjamin is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and get all your attention. He is learning basic obedience and has been friendly with every dog he has met. Benjamin is currently staying in boarding so we do not know if he is housetrained or not, but he has not had any accidents when visiting our staff in the office. Benjamin is available for fostering or adopting. To meet this sweet boy please send an inquiry today. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven. Malcolm
Young • Male • Medium
Meet Malcolm! Malcolm is approximately 7 months old and 22 lbs. He is an excellent cuddler and an even more excellent napper! He likes to play with toys and is great with other dogs. He has not been around cats but we think if he was in a home with one he would try to cuddle it! We are working on potty training and leash walking still but he is smart boy and is food motivated so he is catching on very quickly. He learned sit in one session! He was found abandoned and underweight in a park. He had a bloated abdomen and walked flat-footed. These are all signs of inadequate nutrition in a growing puppy, and likely intestinal parasites. After his deworming his bloated belly went back to normal and with good quality puppy food, he has been gaining weight and trying to walk more upright on his toes. As he started getting stronger, we noticed that his right leg tended to bow and he would shake a little after long periods of walking/play. Our vet felt that this was still part of his poor nutrition when younger and as he continues growing this will strengthen and become more straight. We have already seen a great improvement in this! This is a condition called carpal laxity. In most cases, carpal laxity is self-limiting. Most puppies with carpal laxity will appear completely normal within six to eight weeks. Malcom is a funny puppy who likes to run and play, but is still the best napper and cuddler we have seen! We’re committed to finding the best homes for our rescued pets. To ensure a great match, please review our adoption requirements below. **Must live within 45 miles of our Columbus office (For other Ohio rescues, check out our Resources Page) **Must be 24 or older to adopt **Resident pets must be spayed/neutered **Adoption agreement required **Adoption Fees: Adult Dogs – $300 Cats – $100 Adopting a pet is a big decision, and our process ensures the best match for both you and your new furry friend—here’s how it works! 1. Reach Out – Interested in adopting? Send an inquiry through the Petfinder link or call our office at 614-471-9000 to speak with our adoption coordinator. 2. Adoption Discussion – Our coordinator will review our adoption process and policy, discuss the pet’s needs, and help determine if it’s a good match for your family. 3. References – Before meeting the pet, we’ll complete a landlord and vet reference check to ensure compliance with lease and veterinarian recommendations. 4. Meet & Greet – We’ll schedule a visit so you can meet the pet in person. Afterward, we ask you to take time to think before making a decision. 5. Home Visit – If you're still interested, we’ll bring dogs to your home for a second meeting and introductions with your pets. Cats do not attend home visits to reduce stress. 6. Final Adoption – Once you’re ready to adopt, we’ll schedule the adoption agreement signing, provide medical records and register the microchip.
