Sammy
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Sammy the Hound: The Nose That Knows In the heart of Texas, there lives a dog named Sammy—a proud hound mix with a nose like a GPS and a heart as big as the wide-open plains. Sammy is the kind of dog who follows his nose wherever it leads. He'll sniff out a squirrel trail from yesterday, track a rabbit's path with laser focus, and still somehow know when you're sneaking a snack in the kitchen from three rooms away. That’s just the hound in him—keen, curious, and always ready for an adventure. But Sammy’s story didn’t start with comfy beds and belly rubs. He was found wandering the streets with an injured leg. No one knows how long he was on his own. Despite his journey, Sammy was well-behaved and very happy he had found a caring individual that would help him out of his predicament. Unfortunately, Sammy had to have surgery on his leg, but he has fully recovered and ready to follow his nose! Sammy’s true personality shines, he’s a classic hound: loyal, smart, and sometimes a little stubborn (especially when there’s an interesting smell pulling him in a different direction). A tall fence is a must with this little investigator! He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and lives for long walks where he can put his sniffing skills to work. Sammy is playful and affectionate, the kind of dog who’ll lean into you for ear scratches. He’s happiest when he’s part of the family—whether that’s lounging at your feet or following his nose through the backyard. He’s not just a good boy—he’s a great boy, and now he’s looking for a forever family to join on life’s next great adventure. Could that be you? If you think it is you please complete our adoption application houstonk911rescue.org/adopt. Sammy is located in Houston, Texas.
Bruno
Adult • Male • Medium
Bruno’s Second Chance Before rescue found Bruno, life had been anything but kind. He’d faced challenges no dog should have to endure, and yet, through it all, he held onto a gentle spirit and a heart full of hope. Though the world had shown him its harsh side, Bruno never let go of his ability to trust. In fact, he’s still eager to offer something rare and wonderful—unshakable friendship and loyalty to the family lucky enough to call him their own. Bruno doesn’t believe in bad days. Every morning is a new adventure, and every person is a potential best friend. His tail wags with joy, his eyes sparkle with mischief, and his whole body radiates love. He’s the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world just by being near you. You might be surprised to learn that Bruno is a tripod—he lost one of his hind legs due to an injury that couldn’t be repaired. The decision to amputate wasn’t taken lightly by the rescue, but Bruno showed them there was never anything to worry about. From day one, he didn’t miss a beat. He runs, plays, and loves with the strength and determination of a dog who knows how precious life can be. Bruno doesn’t dwell on what he’s lost—he celebrates what he still has: a zest for life, a heart full of love, and a future wide open with possibilities. Bruno gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely adores people. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a snuggle on the couch, or a simple walk in the sunshine, he’s just happy to be by your side. Bruno is ready for his forever home—a place where he can finally settle in, be loved as he deserves, and continue proving that no obstacle is too great for a heart like his. Complete the adoption application at houstonk911rescue.org/adopt to bring home this incredibly special boy. Bruno is waiting, tail wagging, for the start of his new beginning—with you.
Willow
Adult • Female • Large
Meet Willow. Willow was found abandoned at a property where someone moved out and left her behind. She gave birth to a litter of pups in the barn on the property and was rescued shortly afterwards. Willow is a great momma, she even took in two other pups from a different litter as her own (Marina and Maybelle the GSD mixes). Willow is funny and playful, but also submissive. She will roll on her back immediately often when giving her direction so we do not think she was much of an inside/loved pet. She can be affectionate but will need some time to learn that she is a house pet/family member and not a lawn ornament! Now that her pups are older she is actively seeking more attention from people and is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had come through our program. Willow does well with most dogs. There have been times we have seen her act protective of her pups and growl at other dogs through barriers however we think with an introduction away from her babies she would not be protective. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.
