Sandy
Adult • Female • Medium
Meet Sandy, Sandy was stray found by our friends at Rico Pet Recovery. We asked if they needed assistance with fostering her and she has been such great fun to have in our program! She is a short, thick girl at 50 lbs and a bundle of playful energy. Sandy loves running around playing with all the toys and her antics will make you laugh until your belly hurts. We believe she is 2-3 years old and some sort of bully breed. She has these amazing ears that she can pull straight up on her head and pinch them together. She needs a little help with learning some commands as she is so busy minded she stops paying attention if it takes too long to get a treat! Sandy is currently boarding with our friends at Top Dog Daycare & Boarding and getting some basic obedience training with Andrew at Boop K9. She was in a previous foster home with dogs and has done well with any dog we have introduced her to, but she does not do well with cats. We think Sandy will do well with children however due to her size we would suggest caution with her being around little ones- she's very active and may knock them over! Sandy is looking for a foster or adoptive home. If you would like to learn more about this sweet girl please send an inquiry today. Harriet
Adult • Female • Medium
Meet Harriet! Harriet is a 3-year-old mixed-breed female weighing approximately 45 lbs. Based on her hair coat and head shape, our best guess is that she is a Staffordshire/lab mix, but we do not know for sure. Harriet was rescued and adopted from a sister rescue, but was recently returned due to financial concerns from the owner. Harriet is in a foster home with several dogs and some cats and does well with them, however, the previous owner states that she will not do well with small dogs (under 20 lbs) and cats. The dogs that she is currently in a home with range in price from 30 lb- 80 lbs, and she does well. She is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Loves to play but also loves to lounge on her chair like a queen! If you are interested in meeting Harriet please send an inquiry today. Denali
Adult • Female • Medium
Meet Denali! Denali was found as a stray with her brother Camden and transferred to our rescue from an overburdened rural shelter. She is 1-2 years old and around 38 lbs. We are not sure of her mix as she is very petite and she can jump very high! Denali is very smart and is picking up basic obedience quickly. While she has a high energy level due to her age and lack of training, she is also an amazing snuggler after she has been exercised well. She has spent a lot of her time with us in boarding due to lack of foster homes, however she has been with a foster for a few months now and is a lot calmer. Denali spent a lot of time in boarding/shelters and has an aversion to the crate. She does not like being in it at all but has also shown some destructive tendencies when left out. We are working on some training and decreased anxiety in the crate right now, but feel the best home for her would be one where someone works from home or would be home with her for most of the day. She does well if she is crated for less than 6 hours at a time. She has been in a foster home with cats but she does have periods of high energy- followed by periods of calm time and snuggles- so any adopters with cats should make sure their cat can tolerate high-energy dogs before considering Denali. She does well with other dogs, but again the dogs must tolerate her during those high-energy times as well. She can be a lot at first but those periods of time do not last long. Denali thrives in homes with other dogs and lots of time in the yard to play with her friends! Please see adoption requirements and process below: Requirements for Adoption: **Must live in the Central Ohio area ( within 45 miles of our office) For rescues/shelters across Ohio, visit: ColumbusDogConnection.com/RescuesShelters.html **Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. **Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.? **There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees are as follows: $300 for Adult Dogs $100 for Cats Adoption Process: **We do not have an application. Roo- Willows Litter
Baby • Female • Large
Meet Roo. Roo is one of 5 puppies born to Willow in a barn after she was abandoned by her owners. We believe they were born in late October. Roo is a beautiful blonde female who loves to cuddle. Since we are not sure what breed the dad is we do not know how big she will get, however she seems to be one of the smaller pups in the litter. Mom is approximately 60 lbs. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven. To meet our pets: Call our office at 614-471-9000 or click on the pet that you are interested in and send an email. We will be happy to discuss the adoption process with you and set up a visit at the time of contact. The foster dogs are in foster homes and most of the cats reside at our office. Erin Brockovich- Underdog Litter
Baby • Female • Medium
Meet the Underdogs. Named after Underdog movie characters, we have Rambo, Rocky, Rudy, Erin Brockovich, and Po- the Dragon Warrior! These sweet little babies were found abandoned in a box next to a dumpster and a good Samaritan had found them when he took his garbage out that morning. They were born either early that morning or late the night before as they still had freshly chewed umbilical cords. They were so tiny and cold by the time they got to us we did not think they all would survive, however, after learning to feed from a bottle they have thrived under our care! We had an Embark DNA test donated to us which showed the puppies were 50% Husky, 29% Pit Bull Terrier, 14% American Bulldog, and 5% boxer. Erin was the only girl of the litter and she is also the only one with white and grey like a husky! When they started getting older and opened their eyes we immediately knew these were husky babies just from her looks. She is learning to walk on a leash and sleeps in a crate all night without accidents. She is also starting to potty train with more space being given, and has not had any accidents recently. Like most puppies, they are all learning not to play bite. She is scheduled for her spay and microchip mid-August and has already started her vaccines. She will be considered for a foster to adopt home prior to her surgery. Underdog Litter: 1. Rambo- Dark brown boy- already in a foster-to-adopt home 2. Rocky- Runt, brown boy with black and white face. Most independent, but gets very feisty and active after eating! 3. Rudy- Light brown with white across the back. Blue eyes. Very confident, bit of a trouble maker! 4. Erin Brockovich- Grey, white, and red female. Only female in litter, very vocal, and loves to be held. 5. Po, the Dragon Warrior- largest of litter, black and white like a panda! Quiet. But loves to follow around the big dogs. Bit of a weight bully when wrestling his littermates. All of them love the water and their little plastic pool. They will put their feet in the water bowl too. They will howl with their head thrown back for attention or if they need to potty. They are NOT potty trained, crate trained or leash trained. They are learning. Special requirements to Adopt these guys: 1. Must have a work-from-home or adult rotating schedule. They need to potty every few hours so there must be an adult at home with them at all times for the next few months. 2. Must be able to bring them to the office every 2-3 weeks for the next 2 months while they are completing their medical. They will need vaccine boosters and neutering all done by us here at the office. Your schedule must allow you time to bring them to their appointments. 3. Must sign up for puppy training classes after adoption. Most of the dogs we see in rescue are abandoned or surrendered due to lack of basic obedience. As a foster we rely on you to train them for their forever homes. Since you will be fostering to adopt you must take that on yourself. We do have a volunteer that offers puppy socialization classes at this age on Wednesday evenings. It is not a requirement that you go to her class, but it is offered and recommended. 4. Must have knowledge of PARVO and other illnesses that puppies can get and agree not to take them to places like dog parks where they can be exposed until they are fully vaccinated. Must agree to monitor their health and let us know if there are any concerns immediately. Must agree not to place puppy in unsafe conditions or around dogs that have not been fully vaccinated. 5. Must adhere to all other adoption requirements and procedures as below: Must live within 45 miles of our Columbus office (For other Ohio rescues, check out our Resources Page) Must be 24 or older to adopt Resident pets must be spayed/neutered, UTD on Vaccines and preventions Adoption agreement required Adoption Fees: Adult Dogs – $300
Gretchen
Baby • Female • Medium
Meet Gretchen! Gretchen came to us as a stray that was found wandering an apartment building, but no one claimed her. She is one of the skinniest dogs we've ever had here ( the second most skinniest dog we've taken in this year), and you could count every vertebra down her very long tail! Gretchen is a very sweet girl who craves human attention and interaction. She is around 6 months old and is still eating her way back up to a healthy weight. She is currently around 28 lbs. Gretchen has a delicate fur coat, so much that she doesn't even have fur that grows on her abdomen. She feels like velvet when you pet her! She did not have a very good start to life, as it is obvious that she was never taught any basic manners or housetrained. She is, however, very food motivated (who would have thought?!?!) and is learning very fast. She does well with other dogs, and she has been around a very confident office cat and did well, but she is very high energy at this age, so we do not recommend her to a home with cats until she learns more manners. Gretchen is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and has been dewormed. She is not yet old enough for heartworm/lyme testing; however, she has been on prevention since coming under our care in April. She is still recovering from happy tail- a condition in which the tip of the tail bleeds due to wagging it so hard against surfaces- but is at the very end stage of the scabbing and she has not opened the wound in a few weeks now. She also has a special eye that likes to wander and look the other direction at times, but there's nothing medically wrong with it, she just has 180-degree eyesight! Scooby
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Scooby - an athletic, playful, and friendly pooch! Scooby is a hilarious fellow with a funny side to him that will have you laughing all day long. He's an intelligent boy that needs a home that can keep up with his active nature. Scooby loves playing with toys and going on long walks, but what he loves most is a good snuggle session. He is a sweet and charming dog who would make a great addition to most homes, especially those with a yard where he can run around and play to his heart's content. If you're looking for a fun and loving companion, look no further than Scooby! Scooby has some anxiety likely due to his previous starvation and being dumped. He is a sweet guy who will take a little bit of time to gain his love and trust. Once he knows you will feed him and not dump him he will be your bestest friend. He has come such a long way since coming to Top Dog Daycare & Boarding last October and still has a ways to go. But he is doing great! Scooby has AMAZING leash manners, loves to play tug and fetch, and has the funniest zoomies I’ve ever seen. Requirements for Adoption: Must live in the Central Ohio area ( within 45 miles of our office) For rescues/shelters across Ohio, visit: ColumbusDogConnection.com/RescuesShelters.html Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Moose
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Moose, Moose was pulled from Franklin County Animal Shelter where he was found as a stray and became very stressed out in the kennel. He was already neutered, but we have no information on his previous home life. Moose is currently staying with our friends at Top Dog Daycare and Boarding where he is getting all the loving from all the staff, including the owners toddlers. He likes to hang out in the office and play quietly with his toys while watching tv with the owner and her mom. He is very cuddly and will timidly show you all his toys when you visit with him. He also does well with children of the owners while in the office. He still needs to gain a little more weight and he has not been thoroughly dog tested, but has been around dogs for short periods and has done well. He likes to play with our other foster dog Sandy and did well around our staff members american bully male. He does not like to be crated, he will cry and whine while in one. As he has not been in a foster home we do not know if he would get into things if left uncrated while owners are out of the house. He is in a kennel overnight at boarding and does ok overnight. We will update this profile as we get more information on this sweet, timid boy. Eli (& Wiggles)
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Eli (& Wiggles) Eli is the wiry-haired hair grey and white pup pictured with his brother Wiggles- the brown and white pup. Both were adopted a few years ago from a rural humane society, but their loving owner and they lived quite happily with him until recently, when their owner became very sick with a poor prognosis. While he wanted to keep Eli and Wiggles with him, he knew that they were missing out on finding their forever home and did not want to wait until it was too late for him to see them settled. Eli is a bit more independent than Wiggles, who relies heavily on Eli, but we will not separate these two, and they will only be considered to a home together! Both dogs are house and crate-trained and seem to walk well on leashes. We have not taken them to adoption events yet this year so we will post updates as we get to know them better. They have met other dogs at the office and were friendly with them and are not reactive to other dogs passing their kennel. Eli showed a lot of attention to our cats in the catio so we do not think he would do well in a home with them at this time. Eli is just under 70 lbs and Wiggles is right around 50 lbs. Both dogs are vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm and tick-borne diseases. Eli & Wiggles will be considered for a foster or a foster-to-adopt home. Known medical conditions are discussed at the time of inquiry.
Lion
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Lion. Lion was found abandoned at a property with his momma Willow and her litter of babies. We were not able to take in Lion at the time that he was rescued by another organization due to limited foster homes, but he has recently been transferred to our rescue and has flourished in foster care with his momma and remaining siblings (from another litter). We believe Lion is approximately 1.5 years old, he seemed to be around 9 months - 1 year when he was rescued in November 2023. He is currently being treated for Lyme disease, which he will continue to test positive for after his course of antibiotics. He has not shown any symptoms, however, his blood testing showed a high number of antibodies, which generally indicates an active infection. He is also being treated for a skin infection at this time. Lion is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He is heartworm negative and has been on flea/tick/heartworm prevention since under our care. Lion is starting to learn basic obedience as he never received the foundation as a puppy. He was very withdrawn when first rescued but since has come out of his shell and is much more comfortable now that he is around Willow again. He is a submissive dog but does like to wrestle and play a bit rough. He is learning how to walk on leash and not to jump on people. He will do best in a home with other dogs. May not be the best fit for a home with small children until he can get his jumping under control. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven.
