Junie

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Junie s an 8-year-old, spayed female Pitbull/Retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. She’s currently located in HOUSTON, Texas, but don’t worry—she can transport out of state once an adopter is approved! Junie. has been in rescue for several years, quietly waiting for her chance at a true forever home. We recently welcomed her from another rescue that originally saved her from euthanasia at a Houston shelter. Her story began on the streets, where she was found after what was believed to be a dog attack. Scared and alone, she was picked up by animal control, and her fate was uncertain—until rescue stepped in. Though she’s an older gal, Junie still has so much love, energy, and life to give. During her time in rescue, she worked with a professional trainer who helped her regain trust and confidence. Because of her traumatic past, Junie is understandably fearful around other dogs. She’s unsure how they'll treat her, and when startled, her first instinct is to protect herself. That said, with patience and proper slow introductions, Junie has shown she can successfully coexist with other dogs. She even formed a deep bond with one of the male dogs at her trainer’s home—her “best friend.” In her current foster home, Junie is the only pet and doing wonderfully. She met a relative’s dog on leash recently and, when approached from behind, barked out of fear. That moment was captured on video and perfectly illustrates why slow, thoughtful introductions are key to her success. If placed in a home with another dog, she’ll need time, structure, and guidance. Fortunately, Junie is not leash-reactive—she can pass dogs calmly on walks without issue. What does a slow intro look like for Junie? It means giving her the time she needs in her own space, using crate-and-rotate strategies, and slowly building up to supervised face-to-face time. With this approach, Junie has proven she can thrive. But don’t let her age or cautious nature fool you—Junie B. is still a “Party Animal” at heart! She absolutely loves staying active. She’s a perfect companion for walks, jogs, or even rollerblading. At home, Junie is a gem. She’s fully house-trained, crate-trained (though she no longer needs one), and has excellent leash manners. She rides well in the car, has solid recall, and loves zooming around in open fields. When she’s not exploring or exercising, you’ll find her curled up on the couch, snuggling close and doling out sweet kisses. She’s an affectionate lovebug with a photogenic face you’ll want to post every day. We don’t have any history of Junie with cats or small children, but she would do best in a home with older kids (10+) or children who are respectful of animal boundaries. Her gentle demeanor and affectionate heart suggest she could adjust to family life with proper guidance. Anyone who has met this girl, absolutely loves her. She is easy to love and hang out with. She is super friendly with every person she meets and always has an extra kiss to give out. Junie is the kind of dog who will change your life. She’s soulful, sweet, resilient—and more than ready for her happily ever after. Whether as your one-and-only or with the right canine companion, Junie will bring joy, adventure, and unwavering loyalty into your home. Apply today and give Junie the love story she’s been waiting for. https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PRP/Dog ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Suzie thrives on playtime and is best matched with confident dogs who can keep up with her fun, rough-and-tumble style. Katniss

***Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*** We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Katniss, a 5.5 year old, 40 lb spayed female who’s likely a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix—beautiful inside and out, with a heart that’s just starting to trust and open up. Katniss is currently being fostered in AUSTIN, TX and can transport out of state to an approved adopter—transport is arranged by the rescue. This brave mama was found living on the streets of Cleveland, TX with her four puppies, doing her best to survive. Her pups have all found loving homes—now it’s finally Katniss’s turn to be cared for and cherished. After a lifetime of neglect, she received a full dental cleaning and completed heartworm treatment, and she’s officially ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Katniss is incredibly sweet and has made amazing progress in her foster home. Once unfamiliar with human touch, she now shows moments of playfulness and affection, especially with her foster mom. Her journey hasn’t been easy, and while she’s still a nervous dog, she becomes more trusting with each passing day. She’s fully crate and potty trained and has never had an accident in the house. Her foster family is working on leash training, but her forever family should be prepared to continue building her confidence. Because of her fears, Katniss will need a single-story home with a securely fenced yard—this gives her safe space to explore and adjust at her own pace. Katniss is also nervous in the car and at the vet, so patience and gentle routines are key. One thing that helps her immensely is the presence of another dog. She feels far more comfortable and secure when there’s a confident, well-balanced canine companion by her side, so a home with another dog is a must. She hasn’t been around cats or young children, so a home with older kids who understand and respect a shy dog’s boundaries would be the best fit. Katniss isn’t the kind of dog who will run up to you with kisses on day one. But if you’re the kind of person who finds joy in watching a dog slowly, quietly blossom—who understands the deep beauty of earned trust—then Katniss will be one of the most rewarding companions you’ll ever know. She’s come so far already. Now, she just needs a patient, loving home to help her continue that journey. Could that be you? ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Mia Thermopolis — a 3.5-year-old, spayed Shepherd/Pitbull mix currently being fostered in Houston, Texas. She’s available for out-of-state adoption once matched with an approved adopter. She’s short-haired, dog-friendly, and full of goofy charm. While she may not be the actual Princess of Genovia, her foster family lovingly gave her the royal nickname because she truly rules the backyard with a stick in her mouth and a sparkle in her eye. Mia’s favorite game is “chase me and try to get my stick,” and she takes it very seriously—any piece of wood quickly becomes her prized possession. Mia is the perfect companion for an active family who enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and lots of playtime. She gets along well with other dogs and brings a joyful, silly energy wherever she goes. She’d love nothing more than a home with room to run and, ideally, a dedicated pile of branches just for her. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and slightly royal pup to share your adventures, Mia Thermopolis is ready to rule your heart. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Cherry, a 4-year-old spayed female Westie mix with a heart of gold and the cutest pointy ears that perk up with every curious tilt of her head. She weighs 19 lbs and is a perfect blend of cuddly companion and playful sidekick. Cherry is currently being fostered in AUSTIN, TX and can transport out of state to an approved adopter—transport is arranged by the rescue. Cherry was found roaming the streets with her four puppies. Tragically, they were taken in—then released—on two separate occasions before finally making their way to safety with our rescue. Despite all she’s been through, Cherry has blossomed in her foster home and is now ready for the love and stability of a forever family. This sweet girl is affectionate and expressive—she rolls over for belly rubs, gives the softest kisses, and has the kind of ears that practically speak for her. She loves people, is a champ on leash, and truly enjoys her walks. After a good play session running around with her puppies, she’s just as happy to curl up next to you on the couch and relax. Cherry is crate trained, hops into the car without hesitation, and has never had an accident in the house. She’s a big fan of Benebones and bully sticks, and she’s a dream during bath time and grooming. Cherry gets excited and animated when she sees other dogs—always in a playful way—but slow, supervised introductions are key. She’d do well in a home with other small, calm, well-balanced dogs, or she’d thrive as a solo pup in a home that provides her with attention and structured outlets for her energy. She hasn’t been around cats or young kids, but we think she’d do well in a home with older children who understand and respect a dog’s boundaries. Because Cherry likely only knew her puppies before coming to us, continued socialization and patience will be important as she builds confidence and learns what it means to just be a dog. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, and joyful companion, Cherry might be your perfect match. She’s ready to give her whole heart to a family who will finally give her the forever she’s always deserved. Liberty, 5 months old | ~34 lbs and growing | Spayed female| Pitbull Terrier. She is in a foster home in AUSTIN, TEXAS and is ready to transport out of State once an adopter is approved! Liberty’s name says it all—this brave girl is finally free to live the happy, playful life every dog deserves. Rescued from a county shelter after surviving a cruelty case where she was severely neglected and underfed, Liberty is now thriving in foster care and making up for lost time with tail wags, zoomies, and all the love she has to give. Currently around 34 pounds and still growing, Liberty is a beautiful mixed-breed puppy with an affectionate heart and plenty of playful energy. She loves playing with other dogs—big or small, calm or goofy, she’s everyone’s instant best friend. Her play style is energetic and enthusiastic, but she knows when to ease up and often entertains herself if her canine pals need a break. She’d love a dog sibling to romp around with, but it’s not a must if her humans are active and engaged. Liberty is also fantastic with kids and has spent time with children as young as 3. She’s gentle, respectful, and happy to soak up attention from her smallest fans. While she hasn’t been around cats, she hasn’t shown any signs of prey drive or reactivity. At home, Liberty is crate trained (sleeping through the night like a champ from 10pm to 6am!) and fully house-trained. She walks nicely on leash, rides great in the car, and responds well to corrections—especially when there are treats involved. She’s food-motivated, curious, and whip-smart, which makes her a dream for anyone looking to continue training a young pup with tons of potential. Her personality is a wonderful mix of playful and cuddly—she’ll tug on her favorite rope toy for hours (even while lying upside down!) and then crash for snuggles when she’s ready to wind down. She can be a little jumpy when excited, but responds quickly to the word “down” and is eager to please. Liberty’s ideal home? An active household—whether it’s a family with kids or a single adopter who enjoys walks, playtime, and adventures. A dog friend would be a bonus, but what she really wants is someone who will treat her with kindness, structure, and love. After all she’s been through, Liberty is more than ready for a forever home where she’ll be cherished, challenged, and spoiled the way every good pup should be. Could Liberty be the missing piece to your family? She’s ready to meet her match. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Petunia

Meet Petunia – Resilient, Radiant, and Ready for a New Beginning Petunia’s story is one of heartbreak and hope. She and her six siblings were found literally discarded in a trash can — thrown away like garbage. But thanks to one of our amazing foster families, these precious puppies got a second chance. Now, Petunia is growing up surrounded by love, learning what it means to be safe, cherished, and wanted. Petunia is a 5-month-old, spayed female, currently weighing about 15 pounds. We believe she may be a Spaniel/Terrier mix, but that’s just our best guess — no DNA test on file, and no promises on how big she’ll get! What we do know is that she’s adorable, spirited, and full of potential. She is located in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS and is able to transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Like most young puppies, Petunia isn’t housebroken or crate trained yet. She will need a patient, consistent family who understands that puppies require time, routine, and guidance. The good news? She’s smart, curious, and eager to learn — the perfect foundation for training! Petunia is well-socialized with her siblings and the other dogs in her foster home, and she’s had exposure to children, too. We don’t know how she’d do with cats, as she hasn’t met any yet. This girl is active, playful, and still discovering the world. Because she hasn’t had much experience outside of her home environment, she may be shy or nervous in new settings. Her ideal home will be one that is excited to help her blossom into a confident, well-balanced adult dog — through positive experiences, structure, and lots of love. Due to her age, we expect someone to be home more than they are away. This looks like not being gone longer than 4 hours at a time. If you work outside of the home, please detail in the application who will come over every day you are gone to spend time, let this puppy out of their crate, etc. If that is not explained, we will not consider your application. Petunia is a survivor. Now she’s ready for a family who will see her not as trash, but as the treasure she truly is. Ready to give Petunia the life she deserves? ? ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Stevie — your future adventure buddy and professional tail wagger! Stevie is a 2-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing around 40 pounds. She's currently soaking up the love in her foster home in HOUSTON, Texas, and is ready to travel out of state once her perfect match is approved! With her sparkling eyes and zest for life, Stevie is a bundle of fun and affection wrapped in a sleek, athletic frame. She’s got an enthusiastic play style and isn’t shy about making new dog friends — whether they’re Chihuahuas or German Shepherds. She loves a good romp, wrestling session, or game of chase, and she always greets her canine companions with a wagging tail and a cheerful spirit. Despite her energy, Stevie is respectful when her playmates need a break and takes social cues like a pro. On leash, Stevie brings her enthusiasm to the great outdoors. She may pull at first with excitement, but she’s learning to settle and walk calmly at your side — especially if there’s a treat involved (she’s very food-motivated!). She’d make a great jogging or hiking partner for someone looking for a fun-loving sidekick. Stevie is house-trained, crate-trained, and trustworthy when left alone — although she does best with plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation. Without it, she may get a little mischievous, she’s the type of dog who thrives when given purpose, play, and puzzles! While Stevie adores kids, her bouncy and exuberant energy is best suited for a home with older children who can match her lively pace. She’s affectionate, independent, and clever, with just the right amount of sass to keep you on your toes. She’s known for sneaking food containers off the counter — not just for herself, but to share with the other dogs. That’s Stevie: always the thoughtful rebel. At the end of a busy day, she’s all about couch cuddles and snuggle time. She loves being close to her humans and knows how to wind down when it’s time to relax. Stevie would love a home who is looking for a young and active dog. She love a yard to run in, but would also be totally fine subbing the yard for walks. She would do great with another dog, but not required. Humans who are active, patient, and ready to laugh. A love for quirky, spirited dogs with big hearts She’s not a huge fan of car rides unless the windows are down or she has a distraction — but that’s just part of her charm. She shares a home with a cat currently and as you can tell from the video sees them as another fun playmate :) Stevie has waited long enough for her forever home — could it be yours? ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
