Stryder
Young • Male • Large
For Petfinder: Stryder has been returned due to unforeseen circumstances. This one-year-old black and rust male with cropped ears, athletic build, and impressive intelligence is once again, looking for his forever home. He exhibits a strong working breed temperament: affectionate, intelligent, and vigilant. Protective of the home and yard, Stryder alerts to external presence and visitors. He needs continued work with socialization. From time to time, we encounter a dog with an unwavering dedication to work. Stryder finds ultimate joy in having a job and pleasing his owner. His obedience training was highly successful, and we determined that a home with prior experience in working dogs would be most suitable. Our primary concern is to find a home that will leverage Stryder's desire to work, guaranteeing his happiness in his permanent home. A physical fence is necessary due to his age, prey drive and energy level. He's crate trained and enjoys walks using a gentle leader. Patience, guidance, reassurance, and treats help to ease car anxiety. Stryder is not a starter dog. He will thrive in an adults-only home with Doberman or working breed experience that is active and highly structured, providing him with ample opportunities to use his intelligence as well as his need to burn energy. He is unsuitable for small dogs and cats but might be compatible with a tolerant, comparable-sized companion. Regular exercise, mental challenges, and chew bones are essential. We are currently accepting applications in most of Ohio, Southeastern Michigan, Southeastern Indiana and Western Pennsylvania. This limited area is due to our requirement for one of our experienced volunteers to perform a visit in your home as part of the adoption process. Interested in Stryder? Hummer
Young • Male • Large
Meet Hummer! A 10-month-old red and rust male who exhibits a sweet, goofy, fun-loving, and energetic demeanor, standing at an impressive height of almost 5ft tall on his hind legs. Hummer has demonstrated considerable progress in his foster home; however, he will require continued training to resist the temptation of food left on the counter. He possesses knowledge of basic commands and is food motivated, facilitating successful training sessions. Hummer walks nicely on leash when using a martingale collar. On occasion, he becomes excited but can be easily redirected when his attention is captured. Notably, Hummer does not appear to exhibit prey drive, suggesting potential compatibility with cats. Hummer is crate trained but sleeps soundly on his dog bed next to his devoted foster mom at night. With a flair for play, he delights in a variety of toys. He's also a natural-born traveler, riding smoothly in the car. Hummer would enjoy a compatible playmate! Due to his "puppy energy," he requires a playmate of similar size and energy level. A dog capable of keeping up with his running and romping without being overwhelmed is essential. If you lead an active lifestyle and can keep him relatively occupied with minimal time alone, he could potentially be an only dog. When crated, he does best in a crate with no bed, just a blanket, and a few hard toys to keep him occupied. Overall, Hummer is a well-behaved, affectionate young boy who will make a wonderful companion. Please note, we are accepting applications in most of Ohio, southeastern Michigan, southeastern Indiana and western Pennsylvania. Interested in Hummer? Bodie
Young • Male • Large
Meet Bodie, Bodie is a handsome, 1-year-old red male with natural ears and a docked tail. He is an incredibly intelligent dog who thrives on mental and physical activity. Bodie loves to learn and would excel in activities like agility classes, where he can put his athletic abilities to good use. Since receiving consistent structure, guidance, and postive based training, Bodie has blossomed into a wonderful dog. He is curious about the world around him and loves to explore and play fetch. When he's not busy with an activity, he's a true cuddle bug who adores ear rubs and affection. Bodie has matured beautifully and now enjoys more free-roaming privileges in the house. He is a fun, loyal, and loving dog who is ready to find his forever home. He'll make a fantastic companion for an active individual or family who can continue to provide him with the engagement he craves. As a confident, robust youngster, he possesses considerable strength, yet he remains unaware of his physical capabilities, resulting in a lack of gentleness. Bodie is not suitable for a home with small children, small dogs or cats. He would do well as an only dog or with a comparable sized playmate. A fence is required. Please note, we are accepting applications in most of Ohio, southeastern Michigan, southeastern Indiana and western Pennsylvania. Interested in Bodie? Queso
Baby • Male • Medium
Breed: Gordon Setter/ Brittany Spaniel Mix Sex: Male Age: 10 weeks Weight: 14 lbs but constantly growing Location: OH Good with other Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Kids: Yes Crate trained: Working on it Housebroken: Working on it Health: Very good Microchip: Yes Queso – The Big Cheese Queso is a bold, bouncy boy bursting with personality! The largest of his litter, he’s got a “big man on campus” attitude and isn’t shy about letting the world know. Queso is full of mischief and speedy zoomies! He isn’t a fan of crate time (he’ll definitely tell you all about it!), but he's working on his manners. His ideal home will be committed to consistent training and providing him with plenty of mental and physical outlets—think hikes, long walks, and puzzle toys. Because Queso can be a bit pushy with other dogs, he would thrive either as an only dog or with a confident, calm canine sibling around who won’t be phased by his puppy antics. If you're looking for an energetic adventure buddy with a ton of character, Queso is your guy! Due to their Brittany and Gordon Setter mix, these puppies require an active household and show excellent potential as hunting companions. While their parentage is known, the parents' specific sizes are not, so we estimate the puppies will mature to around 50 lbs. When applying, please be open to considering other puppies in the litter to ensure we find the best possible match for your family.
