Bunny
Adult • Male • Small
Looking for a dog with the spirit of a rabbit, the fluff of a poodle, and a heart that blossoms with patience and love? Meet Bunny, a 3 year old, 10 pound Miniature Poodle who's as unique as his name. Bunny is a gentle, sensitive soul who's still learning to trust the world. He's cautious around new people and places, and prefers to come around on his own terms but once he does, he'll melt your heart with little nose boops and quiet requests for head scratches. He's currently in foster care and doing well, but he needs a specific kind of home to truly thrive: calm, low-key, and not crowded with dogs or people. Bunny bonds more deeply when he's not lost in a pack. A home with just a couple of other mellow pups (or even as a solo dog) and a patient person willing to go at his pace would be ideal. He loves other dogs, and watching him play is pure joy. But don't be fooled, he's also a clever little escape artist who checks fences for holes and can dart past your legs like lightning. Secure fencing and doors, and a watchful eye, are a must! While he may seem timid at first, Bunny has made huge strides in foster care, now accepting being picked up and seeking affection more and more. If you're the kind of person who finds joy in the quiet victories (the first tail wag, the first snuggle, the first time he chooses you), Bunny might just be your perfect match. Ready to welcome a Bunny disguised as a Poodle into your life? Adoption fee is $375.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only.
Phineas
Baby • Male • Medium
Welcome Phineas to Stop the Suffering! Phineas is a 4-5 month old, male, shepherd mix and he could not be any more handsome if you ask us. Phineas is doing great in his foster home - he's working on his housebreaking and getting better every day. He's loved every person he's met, both young and old alike - just give him attention and scratches and he loves you! Like most shepards, he will likely be a pretty large dog when he's fully grown, which just means even more Phineas to love. He is an active, goofy, playful puppy that cannot seem to go more than a few feet before tripping on his own feet. He is also great on a leash and starting to work on some basic obedience. This lovable and energetic boy knows how to take a good nap too! Friendly with other dogs, he enjoys playtime, making him a great fit for a family with furry friends. Phineas is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is currently learning basic commands. He responds well to positive reinforcement, especially when treats are involved! He would thrive in a home that provides plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and the love he deserves. Whether going for walks, playing fetch, or lounging around, he's sure to bring joy to any household. His adaptability and friendliness make him a wonderful match for families, singles, or anyone looking for a furry companion. Adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only. STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application. Howard
Baby • Male • Small
Curious and energetic Howard is on the hunt for his forever family. If you share some of his favorite things, he might just be the perfect match for you. He is a 5-month-old Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix. He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. He, his momma and 5 siblings came to Stop the Suffering after being abandoned on a country back road. Things Howie likes: Other dogs; Naps; Chickens; Picnic Tables; Wishes; Dandilions. Ok, you might not need to share a lot of these things, really all Howie wants is a loving home - and maybe a few kids to call his own. He really loves kids and is friendly with everyone. He would likely fit well into an active family environment, bringing joy and laughter to the home. With his energetic personality and love for play, Howard would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and attention. His fondness for chewing bones and playing with stuffed toys suggests he enjoys interactive playtime, which is great for bonding with his new family. He also loves playing ball. A backyard would be perfect for him to run around and expend some of that energy. While he loves everyone, he is also happy being an indepdent pup. He is very smart and - BONUS - is fostered with a professional dog trainer who thinks training with this boy will be fun given how smart he is. Adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only. STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. Walnut
Senior • Male • Large
Meet Walnut - a big ball of floof who will steal your heart! He is an approximately 10 year-old Shepherd mix. He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Walnut came to Stop the Suffering after tragically losing his home to a fire. He is sweet, gentle, and mostly calm, but can be a little anxious at times - which may recede in time after he again feels settled and safe. He is house trained, and good with other dogs. He has been very tolerant of his puppy foster brother. Walnut doesn't need much activity, but definitely needs a yard, preferably a fenced one. He loves to be outside. He is simply the nicest dog, and deserves a loving home for his golden years. Adoption fee is $250 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only. STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. Luke
Senior • Male • Small
Luke is a 10 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He's such a sweetie who wants to start every morning with mommy hugs and love! He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Luke needs an owner who wants to be a part of a true doggy transformation. He will look at you with his thankful, loving eyes every time you give him love and attention. Because he was an outdoor dog, he was unsure about this idea of being an indoor pet at first. He was skittish with new noises and people, but has learned that visitors come and go and he is warming up to strangers now. He's working on his manners and energy - and has made a lot of progress in his foster home. He does not have a mean or aggressive bone in his body and gets along well with two resident chihuahua/terrier mixes and kids. He sleeps quietly on the couch in his foster home at night. Luke is making progress with house training, but will have an occasional accident. This seems to be linked to if he gets scared or nervous. He does well with wearing a belly band if needed. He loves getting more pets and scratches and learning about being a part of a family. He listens and responds to when his name is called. Although he loves pets and scratches, he doesn't usually sit long on laps or the couch. He will make a good family pet as he gets along with kids and other dogs. Mars
Young • Male • Medium
My name is Mars and I’m looking for my forever home. I was born in October, so I’m still a puppy. I weigh 21 lbs and a bundle of energy! Yeah, I'm cute, aren't I? I’m a Shiba mix and I live in my foster home in Columbus, OH. My mother was a Shiba who was found as a stray with a belly full of puppies! SIRA did a DNA test and learned that our dad was a Beagle mix. I’m great with other dogs, especially if they love to run and jump and play like I do. I’ve never met a cat, but I bet I’d be curious and would want to play. I’ve met human kids – little and big - and I love playing with them too! My favorite things to do (besides playing) are getting held, belly rubs, or when I can snuggle up next to foster dad for a nap. Foster dad says I’m really smart! I’m learning how to walk on a leash. I’m not a huge fan of wearing a harness and I’m in that awkward puppy phase, so I’m kind of uncoordinated and distracted by every interesting smell or movement or noise. When foster dad leaves the house, he puts me in my kennel or in a puppy-proof room just so I don’t get into things I’m not supposed to. I’m treat-motivated and will sit and go into my kennel for a treat at bedtime. I’m good in my kennel as long as there is another dog nearby. If I’m by myself, I may sing the song of my people before settling down. So if your home shares walls with neighbors, I may not be the best fit. I’m working on potty training. I can be inconsistent, so I do best when I’m on a very regular schedule. I’m a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated. I’m not at all skittish. I LOVE food and will over-indulge if given the chance. I am very curious about new things and can solve a new treat puzzle in no time! So far, I like sticking close to my foster dad and the other dogs here – I haven’t shown the typical Shiba urge to escape on an adventure. If you live in the Midwest and want a happy-go-lucky love-bug like me to be your bff, visit //www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will connect you with my foster dad so we can meet! Hooray!
Gouda
Adult • Female • Large
Hi, my name is Gouda! Most people would describe me as goofy, adorable, and lovable, but I would call myself your new best friend. I’m a mixed breed but mostly Rottweiler. Humans who know and love the breed will certainly love me all the more and understand my needs better. My foster mom calls me the Goud-est Girl. My favorite activities are hiking, cuddling (must lay on top of you of course), playing fetch, working on training, and car rides. I haven’t tried a snack I didn’t like. I have a few very close friends and I will love my family intensely forever and ever! If I trust you, I will show you just how silly I can be! My early life was difficult, but I have come so far and will be your most faithful and loving companion if you continue to show me the way. I was bottle fed at For the Love of Jane and adopted when I was a puppy. Unfortunately, I wasn’t trained or socialized properly and was return at 6 months old. FTLOJ has given me a safe, stable environment to learn all of the things I should have when I was younger. My foster mom has worked hard to train and socialize me. I have graduated from two training classes and go with her everywhere! I know a long list of commands and tricks. I walk on the leash well and am potty trained of course. I am excellent in the crate for bedtime, when my fosters aren’t home, and when I eat my meals. I get along well with other dogs and cats in my foster home. I thoroughly enjoy playing with my foster’s other dogs! I prefer to have enough toys so that I can have some all to myself. I haven’t had the chance to meet many human kids, so I would prefer to only live with older children in my new home. I am still working through some of my insecurities and short comings, like meeting new people, building relationships, sharing my belongings, and taking baths. My adopter should be committed to continuing my training and socialization. I know my new forever family will understand that with some time, love, and patience, I can be the dog of their dreams! I can’t wait to show you just how much love I have to give! Gouda’s birthdate is 8/1/2024. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, fecal tested negative, heartworm tested negative, and on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Apply to adopt at www.fortheloveofjanerescue.com/adoptions
