Olivia is a 12 year old Chihuahua who is just perfection. She may have applications in progress but is currently available. Olivia is a very sweet, easy dog. She loves to be carried around and gets along with anyone and everyone. And don't let her age fool you - she will enage in play with other dogs and doesn't mind being dressed up - in fact, she has been known to rock a hoody on chilly days. She is on medication for her heart, but is otherwise in great health and will make someone a wonderful companion. Simba is a handsome, 4-year-old German Shepherd who tips the scales at over 80 pounds. This sweet boy is gentle and non-dominant, with a big heart and a love for fetchhe's got it down to a science! Simba has a medium drive but high energy and thrives with plenty of physical and mental exercise. He's had obedience training in the past, but he'll need a dedicated person to help refresh his skills and fine-tune his manners. He's safe and gentle around a 2-year-old child and spends his days mingling with other pups in the general playgroup at doggy daycare. Simba would be happiest with an active person or family, ideally with a large fenced yard to run and play, or with someone committed to regular walks, adventures, and dog park visits. Jax is 4 to 6 years old and is a great family dog. He loves people and other dogs.He is house and crate trained. He is a really good boy who know sit, shake and loves to play fetch as long as you will allow him, too. He doesn't jump on people and happily stays off of furniture. He loves laying by his humans feet. He is very sweet and is a good listener indoors. He does chase cats, so we do not recommend cats in his home. Jax is strong and can pull on a leash. He will need work on his leash manners. Jax loves toys and wants to play with all of the toys! He loves walks and car rides. A fenced yard is preferable.

Boomer is a 1-year-old Standard Poodle who came to Stop the Suffering after his elderly owner sadly passed away. He's currently finishing up training to help him with some leash reactivity and will be ready to roll by mid-August. This guy is the ultimate adventure buddyfun, affectionate, and always up for exploring. Wags came to STS after being heartbreakingly abandoned in an apartment when his owner moved out. Meet Willie, The Big Lovebug! He is best guess a 2 year old maybe Irish Wolfhound/Anatolian Shepherd/Terrier mix, about 90lb. This sweet and loyal boy adores his people. He's affectionate, and always checks behind him on walks to make sure you're still there. His favorite place to cuddle? Right on top of you. He can be shy of strangers and unfamiliar noises, so a home without shared walls (no apartments) might be best. He's still learning boundaries and mannersespecially when it comes to remembering how big he is! He loves kids and is a gentle soul. When he's feeling unsure, he'll lean into you for comfort and likes having a reassuring hand nearby. He gets along well with cats and dogs, mostly choosing to ignore them. He loves romping around the yard with his dog friend Belle and will happily chase her, though he may bark if she gets too close to his food or favorite toy. He is fully potty trained, but not a fan of the kennel and has been known to hop a baby gate or two. With medium energy and a big heart, he's looking for someone who will shower him with love and help him continue to grow into the amazing dog he's meant to be. Shiloh is a 2-3 year old Great Pyreness. He is very sweet "old soul" - slightly weary of new people but warms up quickly when you show him you are a friend - not very food motivated but he is a lover of cheese and smoked meats! While he does enjoy the company of other big dogs, he is also perfectly content on his own! He would do best with a fenced-in yard as he does like to wander but respects the boundaries, he does not sleep in a kennel but he sleeps quietly and soundly throughout the night, he is housebroken and scheduled for neuter on 6/27 . He loves kids and dogs but has not been cat tested.

Diesel is an approximately 2-year-old Border Collie mix. He was rescued from a less than ideal (to put it mildly life), with several other siblings. He has asountded his foster family at how resilient and loving he is. He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Diesel lived outdoors in the mud for most of his life, but clearly was just waiting for his chance at the good life, because he is adjusting wonderfully in his foster home. New place? Not worried. Car rides? Not worried. Thunderstorm? Not worried. Clipping his toenails? Not worried. Vet exam? Not worried. We think he possibly even....liked the vet? Or at a minimum, really liked the cheese he was given at the vet.... So far he has loved everyone he has met with "the goofy fire of 1,000 suns," according to his foster family. But he isn't pushy about it. He hasn't tried to steal food, he initially showed his excitement by jumping up, but after only a few corrections now sits SUPER enthusiastically in front of you to solicit attention. (though he's not above climbing in your lap to lick your face if you let him). He is an amazingly fast learner and was potty trained after just a few corrections in his foster home. Like most Border Collies, he does has a lot of energy, but is also excellent at chilling (with his legs out like a frog). We believe a fenced in yard will be best for him. He likes chasing balls, but doesn't really understand to bring them back. Diesel does well on a leash, so would probably be a good running / hiking / out and about dog. He is doing alright sleeping in a crate by his foster's bed at night, but we think he would really thrive in a house where he is allowed on the bed. Cuddling is his love-language. During the day he frequently hops up on the couch to sit on his foster mom and get intensive pets, then hops down and goes to sleep on the floor of his own accord when he's done. He does not appear to have interest in chewing or eating any non-food objects. He gets along fine with other dogs, though we also believe he would be fine as an only dog.
