Now he is a little obsessed with getting and giving kisses and spending time near (or snuggled on) people. Emmett and his littermates were an unwanted litter. They arrived covered in ticks and a little shy. However in the past week they are finally starting to "puppy", playing with toys and even other pups. Sweet Sally is an approximately 5 year old St. Bernard who arrived at Stop the Suffering in heartbreaking conditionemaciated, covered in ticks, and desperately in need of care. With lots of love, nutritious food, many baths and medical attention, Sally has transformed into the happy dog was always meant to be. Sally may be extra-large in size, but she truly believes she's a lap dog! She loves to be close to her people and thrives on affection. She's dog friendly, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys a good stroll. However, Sally does have a strong prey drive and will chase cats and chickens, so she'll do best in a home without small animals. Sally tested positive for Lyme disease on her 4DX test, but thankfully, she doesn't have an active infection that requires treatment at this time. Her future family should follow up with their vet to monitor for any changes or reactivation through Lyme Quant testing. Breanna is a beautiful 3- to 4-year-old Shepherd mix with a sleek brindle coat, bright eyes, and the cutest perky ears you've ever seen. She was surrendered alongside her buddy Bandit when their owner became too ill to care for themthrough no fault of their own. Now thriving in a loving foster home, Breanna has proven to be the perfect house guest! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, has lived peacefully with five cats, and is currently sharing her foster space with children and even birds. Zoie is a 1-2 year old, approximately 50 lb Australian Shepherd mix who is looking for a home that will allow her to snuggle with her family as often as possible - and also to give her lots of belly rubs, please! She may have applications in process, but is currently available. Zoie loves people and human affection and will snuggle up next to you if you allow her. She sleeps with her human every night. She is a good protector and will warn you if you have approaching visitors or unknown noises (or if she's crated while you are home) and for this reason we feel she should not go to an apartment home. She is dog selective but has gotten along with most of the dogs she has been introduced to. She needs submissive dogs if other dogs are in the home. She's great with kids and cats, is crate and potty trained. She can jump a 4 ft fence but does enjoy running around in the backyard with her foster sibling. Zoie loves taking walks, showing you her belly for rubs, and she is very smart and treat motivated. Beautiful brindle momma Cassie arrived to STS just in time for having her puppies in a nice safe place instead of the shelter. She is (best guess) a 3 year old 55 lb plott hound mix. Her babies have all been adopted and now it's her turn to find her home! She may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Now that Momma Cassie is able to spend time away from her puppies, we are starting to see her goofy puppy side. She is a very sweet girl, but is VERY shy at first so takes time to feel comfortable with new humans. Once she does, she is ready to be your loyal and faithful companion and show you so very much love. She has a harder time with men but warms up to women much quicker. Cassie loves all dogs immediately. She is very smart and immediately learned how to ring the bells to go outside to potty! She's going to make a great companion for someone in a quiet home. She would not do well in an apartment yet as she's not comfortable leash walking, so a yard with the fence is required. She will just need continued confidence work. Sweet Ana is a 5 year-old-Havanese. She is a puppy mill mama release who is learning how to be a dog and how wonderful love is. She may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Like most mill mamas, Ana is timid and it takes her some time to learn she can trust you. She gets along great with other dogs and has not yet met a cat. She will do best in a home that has a resident small dog (to help show her the ropes) and a fenced in backyard as she is currently scared of a leash. Additionally, small children may not be ideal - though she has currently not met children. She is working on house training and with someone willing to give her the time and love she needs to learn how to be a dog, she will be a wonderful companion.
