Jazzy
Young • Female • Medium
Jazzy’s journey hasn’t been easy—this incredibly resilient girl was found as a stray after giving birth to her puppies and ended up in a high-kill shelter. Thanks to some amazing people, her puppies are now safe and thriving—and now it’s Jazzy’s turn to be the one who’s cared for and cherished. Recently, Jazzy was taken to the vet, where an X-ray revealed something shocking: she had a corn cob lodged in her intestinal tract that may have been there for months—even during her pregnancy and while caring for her newborn pups. Despite the pain she must have been in, Jazzy never stopped being a gentle, loving mama. She’s since had the corn cob removed and is recovering well—just one more example of her strength and sweet spirit. Jazzy is as loving as they come. She adores children and enjoys spending time outside, especially soaking up sunshine in a quiet yard. She loves to relax and be close to her people, often leaning in for affection and snuggles. Jazzy seems to prefer the company of certain dogs over others, so a meet-and-greet with any future canine siblings is always a good idea. If you’re looking for a kindhearted, gentle companion with a story of survival and sweetness, Jazzy may be your perfect match. JAZZY IS CURRENTLY IN GA BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet-and-greet occurs via video call (Skype, FB Messenger, FaceTime, etc.). Adoption fee: $300 + $75 for health certificate. This includes current basic vaccinations, deworming, microchip (with lifetime registration), fecal analysis, spay, and heartworm test. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam and certificate are completed by a licensed vet within 10 days of transport. Chandler Goose
Adult • Male • Large
Chandler loves, LOVES chasing balls and chewing ropes. He is very vocal, whining and barking when he wants attention or needs to go outside/wants to go run the yard. He was kenneled at the shelter for months before coming to rescue, so he is reluctant to crate at his foster home for long periods of time but is sleeping overnight in a crate for practice. He is an anxious chewer and blanket sucker when inside/crated. He prefers to sleep on a dog bed, couch or the floor. Chandler is being trained with boundaries (baby gates) and does not push open doors or push past people. He knows sit and is easy to walk on a leash. He barks at people and things at a distance but does not show aggression. He is tall and at 2 years old, will not get any taller - which is fine since he is above the breed standard of a Doberman and fitting in the category of a Warlock or King size bred Doberman. He is continuing to gain weight/muscle and last weighed 78 lbs. He could be a 95 lb-110 lb dog. >> He will need a family accepting of his initial anxiety - he barks at new things and people (which is unnerving since he's huge) but will give kisses by the 2nd date or meeting, give 48 hours in a new home before he understands. He is working on house training and socializing. He functions with a puppy brain but is very trainable and eager to please. He will jump on people, he will pull at objects in someone's hand. Chandler Goose will require breed experience to adjust to a new home successfully. !!! He has been slowly introduced to other dogs and thriving in group play. He does well with other big dogs males and females; he wants to play and smell, following the lead of other dogs. He would like dog friends and a yard to play. Due to his size and limited social skills, He should not be exercised at a dog park. Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/UNgh6IvlV8U?si=i-Q9xYtOpNeCRWga Vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms and on prevention, microchipped, neutered. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes XL crate fee on transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Adoption Fee reflects the need for an XL crate at travel. He was poorly socialized and was not used to strangers and never had dog friends. He was significantly underweight at 54 lbs and barked at strangers. The shelter staff knew the best way to find the 'right' family for their 'Silly Goose' would be through Rescue. Chandler Goose weighed in at 70 lbs during his rescue intake and was still noticeably underweight with poor muscle tone.
Chico Diablo
Adult • Male • Large
Chico Diablo - is a stunning black and tan Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He is lean, muscular and athletic - enjoys playing with balls and being outside. He will bark at noises, alarms/sirens and people outside of his property. He is affectionate with his foster family and clingy, pushes for attention and affection. Crate trained and sleeps in a crate overnight. Chico is leash trained and knows basic commands. Chico responds to verbal commands. This sweet and spicy Doberman is a family pet and will thrive in the right home. He wants affection, is house trained, crate trained, leash trained and enjoys a fenced in yard to exercise. A home with another dog (medium to large, female) would be comforting to Chico but not necessary. Video(s) https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BPbijPQYh/ https://youtube.com/shorts/oOiOR44tgjM?si=plepzXeU9X5Uk1A8 Chico came to rescue with some baggage; he was grieving a lost home and confused at the shelter. Shelter staff noted he was 'nippy' and would avoid being petted. Chico uses his teeth without puncturing skin to ask for space when his collar was grabbed. Rescue agreed to give him time to decompress in a home, in his own space (crate) and with slow intros (every dog needs this!). Chico was walked out of the shelter, leaned on his foster and responded to verbal commands. We noted he would snap when his collar was pulled - a sign to us in our experience that abusive handling or improper use of a prong collar was applied on him. We moved him to secure fitted tactical collar and started working with him on touching his neck, pulling gently on the collar and reaching for the collar. Chico is trusting of people but would need confident owners to create boundaries for his safety (no board and training, muzzle during vet visits for strangers to poke him, mindful of who is around). Due to Chico's reactivity to being pull/grabbed by the collar - we do not recommend a home with small children. Chico is being self-protective and not aggressive in his reaction, but we do not want a child harmed or afraid of him. Chico is sensitive to yelling and not a dominate personality. Chico is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm treated and on prevention. Now at a healthy weight, shiny coat and food motivated. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Email with Questions or for Adoption Application - [email protected] Adoption Application LINK: https://forms.gle/33ciYyXPTL18FfnV6 --------------------------------------------------- See more Photos, Videos and Updates on Social Media Facebook.com/CaffeinatedCanineRescueTX Instagram @CaffeinatedCanineRescue --------------------------------------------------- Chico was surrendered with another Doberman to a shelter after his family died. We quickly learned that the two male Dobermans did not like each other and were separated (both tagged and brought to rescue). Chico was fearful at first, barks and protects himself by backing up and growling. He was given time to decompress, trust and see the routine (crated in a bedroom for quiet, led by a leash to the backyard). Chico was paired up to a young male shepherd, confident female dogs for playtime. He will "fence fight" (run up to a barrier to growl/bark/push) another male - without barrier, he will back down and not engage but continue to growl and bark. Due to this repeated reaction to other larger male dogs, we do not recommend dog parks or a home with another male. He is submissive/gentle and playful with female dogs. Due to stress, Chico was underweight when he came to rescue. Not tested with cats or small animals.
Chance
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Chance! This resilient boy has been through a lot in his short life, but you’d never know it—he’s one of the friendliest, happiest pups you’ll ever meet. Chance was first found in the summer of 2022, taking shelter under an oil rig south of Houston, Texas. Shortly after, he was hit by a car, resulting in a broken hip. In early 2023, he underwent a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery, which allowed him to make a full recovery—he now runs, walks, and plays with no issues! He also overcame heartworm disease and has been heartworm-negative for the past year. A loving family stepped up to adopt Chance and supported him through his treatments. However, due to their child’s special needs and ongoing struggles interacting with him, they’ve made the heartbreaking decision to rehome him—for his well-being and happiness. Now, on to the best part… Chance himself! This big-hearted guy is the epitome of a good boy. He’s crate-trained, potty-trained, and knows how to sit like a champ—especially when treats are involved. He adores attention and gets the zoomies whenever new people come over. A goofy, affectionate soul, Chance firmly believes he’s a tiny lap dog, despite weighing around 90 lbs! He’s fantastic with kids but, thanks to his enthusiastic wiggles and happy-go-lucky nature, he’d do best with older children who won’t get knocked over by his exuberance. He loves chew bones but has never been destructive with furniture—just another reason he’s such a great pup. A few more fun facts about Chance: - Age: Approximately 3 years old - Size: Big ol’ dude—around 90 lbs - Leash skills: Walks well but gets excited for adventures, so some work on pulling would be helpful - Dog-friendly? Absolutely! He’s great with dogs of all sizes - Cat-friendly? Nope—he’s got a bit of a prey drive - Energy level: Medium—loves to play and keep up with active dogs, but also enjoys lounging around the house Chance would thrive with a family that will give him plenty of physical and mental stimulation while continuing his training—he’s smart, treat-motivated, and eager to learn. With the right guidance, he’ll become the best version of himself. If you think Chance is your next best friend, apply today! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Chance is being fostered in Houston, Texas, but he’s available for adoption nationwide, with transport included in the adoption fee.
Sammy
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Sammy the Hound: The Nose That Knows In the heart of Texas, there lives a dog named Sammy—a proud hound mix with a nose like a GPS and a heart as big as the wide-open plains. Sammy is the kind of dog who follows his nose wherever it leads. He'll sniff out a squirrel trail from yesterday, track a rabbit's path with laser focus, and still somehow know when you're sneaking a snack in the kitchen from three rooms away. That’s just the hound in him—keen, curious, and always ready for an adventure. But Sammy’s story didn’t start with comfy beds and belly rubs. He was found wandering the streets with an injured leg. No one knows how long he was on his own. Despite his journey, Sammy was well-behaved and very happy he had found a caring individual that would help him out of his predicament. Unfortunately, Sammy had to have surgery on his leg, but he has fully recovered and ready to follow his nose! Sammy’s true personality shines, he’s a classic hound: loyal, smart, and sometimes a little stubborn (especially when there’s an interesting smell pulling him in a different direction). A tall fence is a must with this little investigator! He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and lives for long walks where he can put his sniffing skills to work. Sammy is playful and affectionate, the kind of dog who’ll lean into you for ear scratches. He’s happiest when he’s part of the family—whether that’s lounging at your feet or following his nose through the backyard. He’s not just a good boy—he’s a great boy, and now he’s looking for a forever family to join on life’s next great adventure. Could that be you? If you think it is you please complete our adoption application houstonk911rescue.org/adopt. Sammy is located in Houston, Texas.
Commander BO
Adult • Male • Large
Commander Bo is a stunning strong blue Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He has the 'look' that everyone loves - however, even he ended up abandoned in the county. He is a middle aged country boy who enjoys working out, listening to 80s rock and drinks his coffee black. He tries to be the biggest boy around at about 79 lbs (a toxic masculinity trait of his) - barks at other large male dogs and tries to fence fight or get face-to-face with another male. He is used to being the biggest dog around, so he does play with other dogs - mainly females and a few younger puppy males in his foster home. Bo will challenge other strong willed males (bulldogs, alphas, chihuahuas) by barking and lunging. Based on Bo's need to be the 'Commander' of the pack - he would be best in a home with female dogs, big girls who will play with him. His play style is very juvenile and the other lab puppies tolerate his nipping and mouthy (grabbing by the neck) play. We suspect he did not have other dog friends before or this is his first time being encouraged to 'be a dog' and play supervised but unrestricted. We would not recommend dog parks for older dogs like Bo who lack some social clues and see most dog behavior as threatening. He can be introduced to dogs who will be part of his family or regular playmates, supervised for corrections. Along with his dominant Doberman look (cropped standing ears, muscle tone and deep bark) he has a sensitive tummy like a byproduct of being a 'blue.' His ego gets hurt easily so he looks for human hugs and affirmations daily. Bo lived his life in a rural area and has adapted well to his foster home, trains easily and adores humans. YouTube Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/H8noIhnnSVI?si=Lq9lwLOmyg0gGUHj Bo rides nicely in a car and likes to go for walks, leash training is new to him, but he listens to confident adults. Bo is crate trained and enjoys a large comforter for curling up. Bo would do best in a home with female dogs for companionship and a family experienced with big dogs who need cuddle therapy. There is no doubt, Bo loves people and attention. He gives hugs to his foster mom and has quickly learned 'sit' - a necessary command since he would headbutt people out of excitement. He is housetrained but will mark if males are around. Vaccinated, Neutered, Microchipped, heartworm treated-on prevention. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes XL crate fee on transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Adoption Fee reflects the need for an XL crate at travel. Email with Questions or for Adoption Application - [email protected] Adoption Application LINK: https://forms.gle/33ciYyXPTL18FfnV6 --------------------------------------------------- See more Photos, Videos and Updates on Social Media Facebook.com/CaffeinatedCanineRescueTX Instagram @CaffeinatedCanineRescue --------------------------------------------------- Bo was found by the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office wandering in poor health. Skinny, poor coat, heartworm positive and with an URI when we met him. He was quick to take meals and guarded his food/treats initially. With time, he took treats gently when reminded and would be gentle with his foster humans. Due to Bo's size and assertiveness, older children would be ok. Bo needed to be given directions otherwise, he will do whatever he wanted in the beginning. He appears to be around 6 years old and future medical needs will include dental care.
Sammy
Adult • Male • Large
Sammy is a man of few words - we don't know where he came from or how old he really is... He has scars on his face and body, refuses to answer questions about the past. We just know, he's a cool dude. He enjoys sunsets and watching horses run in the neighbors yard. He enjoys being out with other chill dogs and roaming between meals. He has gained weight since being at this foster home (where he found safety) - 70 lbs at his neuter up to 98 at his last vet visit. Sammy was heartworm positive, treated and on prevention. He would enjoy a home with experience in rescues or shelter dogs, help him settle - learn routine, then relax. He has not shown strong interests in things or favorites - but likely that will change when he is given attention and in a home. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Adoption Fee reflects the need for an XL crate at travel. Email with Questions or for Adoption Application - [email protected] Adoption Application LINK: https://forms.gle/33ciYyXPTL18FfnV6 --------------------------------------------------- See more Photos, Videos and Updates on Social Media Facebook.com/CaffeinatedCanineRescueTX Instagram @CaffeinatedCanineRescue --------------------------------------------------- Sammy was so shy during a behavioral assessment (standing next to his foster) another rescue passed on him and said - not enough personality to get himself adopted. His caregiver was upset! They took Sammy in after his owners died and had kept him safe in their barn. He had dog friends, he played with Maggie and observes the farm and other animals without being a problem. We agreed to take on his care, finish his medical needs and work on adoption. Even the older, shy, timid or less expressive dogs can be amazing family pets. Thank you for reading his bio and considering this dude. Volunteers will keep working on photos and fieldtrips to get videos!
