Bruno
Adult • Male • Medium
Bruno’s Second Chance Before rescue found Bruno, life had been anything but kind. He’d faced challenges no dog should have to endure, and yet, through it all, he held onto a gentle spirit and a heart full of hope. Though the world had shown him its harsh side, Bruno never let go of his ability to trust. In fact, he’s still eager to offer something rare and wonderful—unshakable friendship and loyalty to the family lucky enough to call him their own. Bruno doesn’t believe in bad days. Every morning is a new adventure, and every person is a potential best friend. His tail wags with joy, his eyes sparkle with mischief, and his whole body radiates love. He’s the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world just by being near you. You might be surprised to learn that Bruno is a tripod—he lost one of his hind legs due to an injury that couldn’t be repaired. The decision to amputate wasn’t taken lightly by the rescue, but Bruno showed them there was never anything to worry about. From day one, he didn’t miss a beat. He runs, plays, and loves with the strength and determination of a dog who knows how precious life can be. Bruno doesn’t dwell on what he’s lost—he celebrates what he still has: a zest for life, a heart full of love, and a future wide open with possibilities. Bruno gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely adores people. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a snuggle on the couch, or a simple walk in the sunshine, he’s just happy to be by your side. Bruno is ready for his forever home—a place where he can finally settle in, be loved as he deserves, and continue proving that no obstacle is too great for a heart like his. Complete the adoption application at houstonk911rescue.org/adopt to bring home this incredibly special boy. Bruno is waiting, tail wagging, for the start of his new beginning—with you.
Mondo
Adult • Male • Medium
Meet MONDO – Your New Adventure Sidekick (Who Also Happens to Be Ridiculously Good-Looking) Looking for a dog who’s equal parts dashing, energetic, and just the right amount of goofy? Say hello to Mondo, a 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix (with maybe a hint of Husky and a whole lot of charm) weighing in at a sleek 55 lbs. Let’s get this out of the way: photos do NOT do this guy justice. Mondo is a walking supermodel with a charcoal gray coat, white belly, and those fancy merle legs that look like he dipped them in moonlight. He’s basically a dog-shaped thunderstorm in the best way possible. Mondo may be 5, but no one told him that. He’s still got puppy-level energy and a love for life that’s contagious. He’s the type who hears “walk” and is already at the door with a leash in his mouth and a twinkle in his eye. Not a fan of hiking, camping, running, or adventure in general? Yeah, you and Mondo might not be soulmates. He is:    •    Crate trained and potty trained (because he’s classy like that)    •    Heartworm negative, microchipped, and fully vaccinated    •    A social butterfly – great with dogs of all sizes and friendly with people and kids (just maybe not the tiny wobbly ones, because he might accidentally knock them over mid-zoomie) Mondo is food-motivated, smart, and eager to please. He already knows basic commands but is not off-leash trained—because, left to his own devices, he will try to go door-to-door making friends with the neighborhood. He rides great in the car, because to Mondo, every car ride = adventure time. But after a good romp in the yard or a long hike, he’s all about crashing on the couch with you for cuddles, snacks, and maybe a movie (he’s not picky about the genre—just pass the popcorn). Mondo’s Ideal Home: A yard, an active human (or family), maybe a dog buddy, and definitely some kind of plan to keep his brain and body busy. Apartment living? Only if you’re seriously committed to tiring him out daily. If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky, ready-for-anything best friend who also happens to look like he belongs on a dog calendar, Mondo’s your guy. Mondo is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada. Adoption fee includes vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, microchip, deworming, heartworm test, transport and vet/documentation requirements in preparation for transport. Chuvy
Adult • Male • Medium
Meet CHUVY – The Sweet Boy with the Tough-Guy Face! Don’t let his serious face fool you—Chuvy is a total softie at heart! This stunning 55lb Husky mix was found as a stray in Dallas and ended up on the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter simply due to overcrowding. Thankfully, he was saved just in time and is now thriving in foster care, waiting for his forever family to find him. Chuvy is estimated to be around 2 to 2.5 years old, and he’s already neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and rides like a pro in the car. Whether it’s a trip to the park or a quick run to the drive-thru, he’s just happy to be along for the ride! Chuvy is dog-friendly with both males and females, especially medium to large dogs. He hasn’t had much exposure to small or toy-sized pups yet, but he’s shown nothing but good manners with the dogs he’s met. He’s also great with people—men, women, and children alike—and loves being part of the action. This boy lives for a good scratch—ears, belly, backside—you name it! He’s incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. Despite his “grumpy” expression, he’s pure love on the inside and just wants to be near his people. Chuvy knows several commands, including “sit,” “come,” “heel” (for leash walking), and “gentle” or “nice” when taking treats. He’s a smart cookie who thrives with attention and inclusion in daily life. Whether you’re a single person, a couple, or a family with kids, Chuvy is ready to join your crew and be your loyal, loving buddy. This dainty, darling guy is ready to leave his rough past behind and start a new chapter—could it be with you? Chuvy is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada. Bear

Hi there! I’m Bear, a sweet and sociable 2-year-old German Shepherd/Lab blend with a heart as big as Texas. Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m gentle, affectionate, and always eager to please. I’m heartworm negative, in great health, and fully recovered—now enjoying life in a warm and caring foster home. According to my trainer evaluation, I’ve got great leash manners, love being with people, and enjoy walks and time outside. I came right up for treats and affection, and I’m calm, friendly, and ready to be someone’s loyal adventure buddy. I’m just waiting for my forever family to find me. Wayne
Baby • Male • Medium
Introducing Lil’ Wayne!! Y’all are not going to believe this but Wayne almost didn’t make it out of the shelter alive. He somehow ended up in the highest-kill shelter in Houston, and even though he’s the bestest 6-month-old puppy ever, he was added to the euthanasia list after just three weeks simply due to lack of space. Thankfully, his guardian angel was watching over him that day and stepped up to foster him, allowing us to save his life with less than an hour to spare. Now, onto the good part… Lil’ Wayne himself. Not only is this guy seriously cool looking with his brindle and swirled spotted fur but he’s also what puppy dreams are made of. He’s in that magical stage where he’s already potty trained, crate trained, knows how to sit like a good boy, and is eager to please (especially when treats are involved). He loves other dogs and even gets along well with his senior Chihuahua foster sibling who mostly just growls in his face. According to his foster mom, Wayne has the gift of “reading the room” and knows when it’s best to give grumpy housemates their space. We think that makes him a perfect addition to any established pack or ideal for neighborhood doggy playdates. Wayne loves being close to his foster mom and happily follows her everywhere. He’d make a great adventure buddy he rides well in the car, walks nicely on a leash, and still loves to cuddle up at the end of the day. Wayne’s ideal home is one that understands what it means to adopt a puppy. Like all puppies, he’ll need continued training, socialization, and plenty of physical activity to grow into the very best version of himself. In return, he promises to be your loyal best friend for life. If you think Wayne may be your new family member apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Wayne is being fostered in Houston Texas but is available for adoption many places around the country. The adoption fee includes transport costs. As of 7/7 Wayne is estimated to be 6 months old and weighs 38lbs. The shelter had him listed as a lab mix but we have no idea what his breed makeup is and we think that's part of the fun of adopting a rescue pup!
