I weigh 36 pounds and am the perfect size. I am potty trained, crate trained and good with other animals. It may take me a while to warm up to you but once I do, we can be best friends! I like to follow around my foster mom and sit right next to her, as close as I possibly can and I’m also easily redirected to my bed when she needs some space. I feel like I need to protect my home so I bark at the people and dogs walking by the house. Though I am very friendly when I meet them on walks and at the park. I like playing with all kinds of toys and bones, eating yummy snacks, going for walks and adventures of all kinds but am just as happy to Netflix and chill! Before coming to SPEAK I was a stray and needed surgery on my hip after being hit by a car. I am much happier now that I have healed. I would benefit from regular walks to continue to progress and build muscle in my back leg and some patience to work on my confidence. I promise it will be worth it! Are you waiting to fall in love? I’m spayed, microchipped and up to date on my vaccinations and prevention. What are you waiting for? Fill out an application so we can meet. I’ll be waiting for you! ***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Please fill out an application on our website if you are interested in adopting this dog. Sissy
Adult • Female • Small
Name: Sissy Male or female? Female Approximate Age: 7-10 Breed: Chihuahua Mix Weight: 12 lbs Any impairments: Deaf, slight vision impairment Potty trained? Yes Crate trained? Yes Good with other dogs? Unpredictable/selective Good with cats? Unknown (unlikely) Good with kids? Older children Commands known: Hand gestures for ‘come’ and ‘no’ Needs fenced in yard? Yes or plenty of leisurely walks Needs another dog in the home? No, would prefer only-pet Location: Columbus, OH Energy level (high/med/low): Low FANCY: Meet Sissy, a one-of-a-kind chihuahua with a personality as unique as her looks. To go with her all-white coat, striking blue eyes, and extra-long legs, she has a comically small head and hardly any neck to speak of. Let’s just say she is a sight to behold! But it's not just her looks that make her special. Sissy is a quirky little lady with a cat-like demeanor. She can hang out on the couch quietly and then suddenly sprint across the room for no apparent reason. And with her amusing "dance routine" with her kibble—playfully rolling over a few pieces and then pouncing as if they might escape—her antics are sure to keep you entertained and laughing. Sissy has had an uncertain past and is looking for her forever home. She is deaf and startles easily, so a relatively calm and predictable home environment would be ideal. She also has trouble seeing in dim light and has a slight fear of the dark, so she appreciates having a yard light turned on for her nighttime outings. Sissy is dog-selective and will do best as an only pet in a home with either no or older children. Sissy is happiest when she's sitting by her person’s side or exploring the outside on daily walks or in a fenced backyard, but she also enjoys her quiet time, being her quirky little self. Sissy is looking for an adopter who appreciates her unique personality and can provide the loving, stable home she deserves. If you're looking for an unusual but loyal friend who will keep you smiling, Sissy might just be the dog for you. Location: Charleston, WV Energy level: medium to high Hello, I am Scarlett a 2 year old spayed female. Life hasn’t always been kind, but I’ve learned to be braveand independent. I am full of life, always ready for a brisk walk. I am big but I am not scary. I can love just like any dog; I just need someone who I can trust to not hurt me anymore and show me I matter. I am as sweet as sugar and as playful as a puppy. I do need a little training. I get so excited to see people and want to jump to show them affection. My energy is infectious, and I can turn any dull moment into a fun one. I’ve got a smart head on my shoulders and am quite independent, but won’t say no to a good cuddle. I’m brave and have overcome a lot in my life. I have had very rough life and people hurt me bad, so it takes a bit to trust. Once I trust you, you could never ask for a more devoted friend. All I want is to lay with you on a couch and be loved. I have a lot of energy so can run forever with you. I will require a little patience and time to learn what you want from me and to know you won’t hurt me, so please give that to me so I can find a home of mine own. I won’t let my past define me though, as I am focused on the future. My dream is to have a home of my own, be inside with a way to go out when needed and have a couch to cuddle with my best friend on. Just give me a chance to show you. I will do my best to be the best you want. I will just need a lot of love and patience to learn. My sweet nature and friendly demeanor make me a joy to be around. Despite coming from a tough past, I’ve kept my spirit intact. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend, a playful companion, and a brave protector. I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and endless tail wags. I am ready to find my forever home where I can shower my family with love and laughter. Things I love: Playing outside Giving kisses Go for walks, must use halter to keep me secure Chew on my bene bones Being close to you Food! My brother It is not my fault that I am being rehomed. I was rescued from a horrible place so my foster moms are trying to find me a perfect home that will love me forever and make sure I am safe. If I sound like a good fit for your home, please contact: Cheryl L. Haggard 301-938-6859 Your email: [email protected] or [email protected] Thank you.
Jai
Young • Female • Large
Meet Jai - a beautiful 1-year-old Great Pyrenees/Labrador Retriever mix who weighs in at 91 pounds of gentle sweetness. With her soft white coat, expressive amber eyes, and shy smile, Jai has a quiet charm that’s impossible to resist. She may be a little reserved when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations, but once she feels safe, she opens up with warmth, curiosity, and a playful spirit. Jai gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, and she truly enjoys the company of other animals. A home with another friendly dog could help her continue building confidence and bring out even more of her joyful personality. She’s medium energy—active enough to enjoy daily walks, playtime, and mental stimulation, but not bouncing off the walls. Jai is still learning the ropes when it comes to leash walking, and she can get a bit mouthy when she’s overly excited or stimulated, so she’ll need a patient adopter willing to continue positive reinforcement training. She’s incredibly sweet and loving with people and dogs once she feels comfortable, and she’s full of potential for the right person or family who can give her the time and guidance she needs. Jai is the kind of dog who thrives with consistency, kindness, and a little encouragement—and in return, she’ll give you loyalty, affection, and that heart-melting smile. If you’re ready to welcome a gentle, playful, and truly special dog into your life, Jai might be your perfect match. Please apply online, at https://bigfluffydogs.com/adopt/adoption-application/ and email [email protected]! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process. NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM PETFINDER: WE DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHOUT AN APPLICATION. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST. All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for 1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only hold it for one hour per month of age (i.e. a 4-month-old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break). 2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise. 3.) Socialization. The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home. 4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy. Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time-consuming and can be expensive. All dogs require supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
Honeybee
Young • Female • Medium
Meet Honeybee – The Sweetest Little Soul Honeybee is a 3-year-old, petite 42-pound pit bull mix with the softest eyes and the purest heart. She came to us as a stray—pregnant, scared, and unsure—but even then, her gentle spirit shined through. She lovingly raised her babies, and now it's her turn to be cared for, cherished, and given the life she's always deserved. Everything about Honeybee says love. She’s a wiggly, happy girl who lights up the moment you walk into the room. She adores people and thrives on companionship—she’s the kind of dog who just wants to be close, to rest her head on your lap, or curl up at your feet while you work. She’s incredibly affectionate and social, always ready for a cuddle or a game of fetch. Honeybee gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is respectful of cats, and is gentle with children. She has a joyful, playful energy and would do best with someone who can keep up with her zest for life and help her continue to blossom. She’s especially suited for a home where someone is around more often than not—she doesn’t need much, just your time, your love, and a soft place to land. Pit bulls often carry unfair stereotypes, but Honeybee is here to rewrite that story. She is loving, loyal, and endlessly forgiving. Her love is simple and wholehearted. She just wants to give and receive love every day. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. Honeybee is ready for her forever home—and she’s ready to give you everything she has. Let’s find this special girl the home she’s been dreaming of! She’s more than ready to be someone’s everything! Bryant
Adult • Male • Large
Meet Bryant -- a handsome dude whose genes couldn't decide whether he should have blue eyes or brown... so why not one of each? Bryant is a sweet 2-year-old possible Aussie mix. He recently finished up heartworm treatment and now he's ready to roll! Bryant is a great combo of chill and playful. Want to play fetch in the yard? Perfect. Want to go on a hike? Great! Want to just hang out on the patio? Also a solid plan. Bryant just likes to be where you are. He enjoys the company of other dogs who aren't high energy and doesn't seem to mind cats. He'd be fine with older kids, as he does like to jump, but we're working on that. His leash skills could also use a bit of work... he's not perfect, but he's pretty close! Bryant's ideal home will have his person or people home more often than not, as he doesn't enjoy being left alone for too long. He'd also probably enjoy a doggy sibling, but he'd be ok as an only child as well. He is crate trained and house trained.
