Meet Hope ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you area not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Hope is a spayed, 2 year old female Lab mix, weighing around 50lbs. She is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. This gorgeous girl is a survivor. Hope was found living under an abandoned house, hiding from the other strays that were beating her up. She was severely malnourished, missing most of her fur, and scared of everything. Thanks to an amazing foster, Hope was saved from the streets and is absolutely thriving! Hope is the sweetest, goodest girl! She loves playing with her foster’s other pups, respecting their boundaries when they’re ready to stop. She’s lived with all sizes of dogs and made fast friends with everyone. We don’t have any information about kids or cats, but due to her gentle nature, she’d most likely enjoy older human siblings in the home. Her foster can trust her outside of the crate when left alone as she is not destructive and is potty trained. She’s not been crated, so may need time to adapt in her new home. Hope would do best if there’s someone around most of the time and would definitely like another pup to play with. Despite her rough start, Hope is trusting and ready for love! This beautiful girl deserves nothing but the best and we can’t wait to see her in her forever home. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Allie is a 3 year old spayed female Pit Bull mix, weighing 50lbs. She is in home boarding in San Antonio, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. Looking for the sweetest house hippo that ever was? Miss AllieGator is your girl! Sweets talk, tasty treats and booty scratches are her love language and she’ll give you cute snorts and grunts to let you know how happy she is. Her tail is in constant motion and she will greet you with kisses! She bows to get you to chase her and play, then just wants to cuddle after she’s gotten her zoomies out. She hasn’t been around children, but her foster believes she’d do great with older kiddos. She loves everyone she meets, but has a tendency to jump, so may be too much for smaller kids. Allie enjoys meeting and playing with other pups. She greats them with gentle sniffs, a couple of kisses and is ready to run if they are too! She’d love another dog in the home, but her foster feels she’d be ok as the one and only too. She hasn’t met any cats, so we don’t know how she’d react. This cutie is a smartie too! Allie is crate/house trained and doesn’t pull in a leash. She does have a tendency to zig zag, so watch your step when she’s taking in all of the smells. Allie will thrive in most homes just as long as she has lots of love, snacks and some time to play! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Looking for a loyal, active, and affectionate companion to share life’s adventures? Meet Cleveland — a soulful, spirited beauty with a heart of gold and a story that will melt yours. Estimated to be around 2 years old, Cleveland is a spayed female Labrador Retriever and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix currently in Texas, and she can transport out of state once matched with an approved adopter. Her journey began in the unlikeliest of places — inside a cardboard box, where she was found selflessly caring for her day-old puppies. Despite being abandoned with nothing, she poured everything she had into her babies. Now that they’ve grown up and found homes of their own, it’s her turn to be someone’s baby. Cleveland has blossomed into a joyful, playful, and deeply loving dog. She’s the kind of pup who wants to be part of every moment—whether you’re headed out on a hike or curled up for a cozy movie night, she’ll be right there beside you, tail wagging and eyes full of love. Her zest for life is contagious, and her happy energy will bring light into any home. This smart girl is crate-trained, housebroken, and knows her basic commands. She’s eager to please, responds well to gentle correction, and walks like a dream on leash. She rides calmly in the car and settles nicely at home after a bit of play. Her favorite things? Walks, squeaky toys, soft beds, and being near her people—bonus points if you let her rest her head in your lap. Cleveland would thrive in a home with adults or older kids (12+) who understand that trust takes time. Once she knows she’s safe, she bonds deeply and loves with her whole heart. While she’d be perfectly content soaking up all the love as your one-and-only, she may also enjoy the company of a playful, confident, or very submissive dog who doesn’t mind her rough-and-tumble play style. She’s looking for a forever family who’ll not only match her energy, but also give her the consistency, structure, and affection she craves. After all she’s been through, she deserves to know the security of a home and the joy of being truly cherished. Cleveland is ready for her next chapter—and she’s hoping it’s with you. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Florence (Flora)

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 46 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. When she is off leash, she easily makes new friends. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. While she has done well with children aged 6-11, she tends to bark at new kids, especially when they move around quickly. Therefore, Flora is best suited for homes with children aged 10 and older. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. Flora would benefit from having another dog in the home to boost her confidence and match her energy. Flora loves playing with the other dog in the home, enjoys talking, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with another dog of similar age, size, and energy level, and possibly a child, would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Michelle

***Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*** We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Michelle! This 3-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix weighs in at about 48 pounds and is currently thriving in a foster home in Houston, Texas. She’s ready to transport to an approved adopter and can't wait to find a forever family of her own. Michelle was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and has been making the most of her second chance. She’s incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social, especially with other dogs. She loves playing and napping with her doggy foster siblings. While she’s a bit bigger than her playmates and can sometimes get a little carried away, it’s never aggressive—just enthusiastic—and she’s great at picking up on their cues and adjusting her behavior. Outside, Michelle has plenty of playful energy and enjoys running around with her friends. Inside, she settles beautifully and spends a lot of her time lounging or snoozing. She knows when it’s time to wind down and is a happy, mellow house companion. Michelle has met children ages 8 and up and was very sweet and loving with them. However, she does tend to jump when she’s excited, so we recommend a home with kids 12+ or dog-savvy younger teens who can handle her enthusiasm. She’s fully housebroken, crate trained, and even chooses to hang out in her crate during the day. She’s very food motivated and learns quickly, but like many rescue pups, she’s still working on her manners. She can be a little sneaky around food—she’ll try to steal treats or finish off another dog’s meal if given the chance—so she’s fed separately and does best with guidance at snack time. Luckily, she responds well to redirection. Michelle walks fairly well on leash but tends to pull and walk out in front. Continued leash training and structure will help her keep improving. She also loves to chew, especially on sticks or things she finds outside, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important. She’s also a bit of an escape artist and can scale fences, so a secure yard or leash walks are a must. That said, she would do great in an apartment or urban setting as long as she gets consistent exercise and enrichment. Quirky and affectionate, Michelle loves to be near her people—literally. She often plops her entire upper body onto your lap or hovers over you when you're sitting on the couch, just to be close and soak up the attention. Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and playtime. She’s a goofy, lovable girl who will bring joy, laughs, and plenty of cuddles to her future home. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Lilly — Your Adventure Buddy, Couch Companion, and Loyal Shadow All in One Lilly is a 7-year-old spayed female Labrador Retriever mix, weighing in at a perfect 45 lbs. She’s currently being fostered in Houston, TEXAS, and can transport out of state once matched with an approved adopter! Lilly’s story nearly ended too soon — she was on the euthanasia list at a crowded Houston shelter simply due to lack of space. Thankfully, her amazing foster mom stepped up just in time, and Lilly has been showing her gratitude with tail wags, kisses, and love ever since. Don’t let her age fool you — Lilly still has plenty of pep in her step and absolutely lives for playtime! She’s a big fan of tug-of-war with rope toys, chasing balls in the yard, and going on long, sniff-filled walks. If you're looking for a dog to join you on outdoor adventures and then snuggle up for a cozy movie night, Lilly is your girl. She’s a beautiful mix of independent and affectionate—happy to explore and follow her nose, but always eager to be near her people. Her foster family describes her as curious, loyal, sweet, and a certified cuddle bug. She's been lovingly nicknamed a "velcro dog" thanks to how closely she likes to stick by her humans. Lilly lives with another dog in her foster home and does well with canine companions, though her true joy comes from human interaction. She’ll happily greet you with kisses and tail wags—and she even offers those kisses to other dogs she meets on walks. (Though between us, her real focus is usually on squirrel-spotting!) She’s also cat-experienced and has shown she can be redirected when her interest in the resident feline gets a little too intense. While she hasn’t been tested with children, her loving nature and gentle demeanor suggest she’d likely do well with respectful older kids. Lilly is both crate-trained and potty-trained, and she’s incredibly polite in the home—she’ll even tap the door to let you know when she needs to go out. She does best when fed separately from other dogs, as she prefers to keep her meals to herself, but has no issues with people near her food. Her ideal home? One that’s moderately active, with access to the outdoors and humans who are around often—because nothing makes Lilly happier than being your loyal shadow. Whether you have another pup or she’s your one-and-only, she’ll thrive in a home where she’s included in your daily rhythm and given plenty of time to play, explore, and snuggle. With all the perks of a mature dog (hello, house-trained!) and the heart of a playful pup, Lilly truly offers the best of both worlds. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply to adopt Lilly today and let her joyful spirit brighten your life. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Lady Godiva — a smart, spirited, and snuggly sweetheart ready for her forever home! Lady Godiva is a 4-year-old spayed female Labrador mix, weighing in at a perfect 44 lbs. She’s currently in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once she’s matched with an approved adopter. This gorgeous girl is the total package — affectionate, athletic, and incredibly intelligent. She’s looking for a home where she can be the only dog, but don’t worry — she’ll more than fill your heart all on her own! While she prefers to skip the dog park, she adores her people and is surprisingly sweet with cats — she play-bows, boops her feline friend, and even sneaks in an ear kiss when she can. Slow intros are always recommended, but her foster’s kitty gives her two paws up! Lady Godiva has been working hard with her foster and a professional trainer to manage her reactivity around other dogs, and she’s making amazing progress. She goes to the park daily and is learning to stay calm even when other pups are around. She’ll need an adopter who has experience with dog reactivity or is committed to continuing her positive reinforcement training — her trainer believes her future is bright with consistency and structure! This girl is whip-smart. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and walks beautifully on leash. She knows a long list of commands: come, sit, down, stay, break, wait, stop, up, off, leave it, and more. Her recall is incredibly reliable, and she loves engaging with her person. With her athleticism and brainpower, she'd shine in sports like agility or dock diving! When she’s not training or exploring, Lady Godiva is a total cuddlebug. She’ll paw at you for attention, snuggle into your arms, and happily snooze next to you in bed if you let her. Her goofy side comes out when she plays — she tosses her own stuffed toys to chase them, plays tug with perfect manners, and will even growl back at you in the cutest way if you playfully growl during a game. Bonus facts about Lady Godiva: - She loves wearing clothes and will hold still like a fashion model for her outfits. - She answers to her nickname “Stinky” and its many variations: Stinkbug, Stinkstink, Stinker… you get the idea. - She’s got springs for legs — this girl can jump! - She’s a total training superstar and is motivated by kibble, so she’s fun and easy to teach. - Her favorite scent? Dried earthworm. It’s her favorite thing to roll in! Lady Godiva is brilliant, loving, and the perfect companion. If you're ready to welcome a loyal, clever, and endlessly entertaining best friend, she is waiting to steal your heart. Addie, 4.5 year old, spayed female pitbull terrier mix, 45 pounds. Addie is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Addie was saved from the streets of a north Houston neighborhood known for being a dumping ground for unwanted pets. When she was rescued, she was nearly hairless from mange, massively underweight and had experienced only a lifetime of struggle and raising litters. Addie is still learning what it means to be a loved house dog, but she is a willing and promising pupil and is loving her new lease on life! She is crate trained and stays in the kennel while her foster is at work for up to 8-9hrs, as well as sleeping in there at night. She has been trusted to sleep loose on occasion and has not had any issues in the house. She's still perfecting her house skills and may have the occasional accident until she settles into her new Furever home's routine. We do not have history with cats or children. In general, we recommend homes with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues and would always suggest supervised interactions until all parties are well accustomed to the other. Addie is a sweet, gentle girl, so she would likely do well around young kids, but may prefer older, calmer pre-teens and teenagers. Addie never had doggy "friends" before so she's not super playful. When she does interact, she greatly prefers her male friends of equal to bigger size (40-60lbs) and picks up on their cues to cease playtime. She is very curious and pulls towards the female dogs she's encountered but has yet found a girlfriend she enjoys playing with. This cutie has not shown any aggression around food or other resources but she is very much is a hungry, hungry hippo! She will try to eat everyone else's food, so we do recommend feeding her separately. Her foster says she is realizing that she will be getting another meal, and is getting much better with this. Addie has a few wishes for her new home: *walkies for 20-30 mins twice a day *a yard to roam and run around in *a male dog sibling to cuddle up and sleep next to *couches aplenty since she's in her Soft Life Era *all of the love and affection she missed out on while fending for herself on the street Although she is timid at first, but once she trusts you, Addie is overflowing with love. She is a survivor and has proven that the resilience of dogs will not be diminished, no matter how unfortunate life or unkind humans have been to them. We all can’t wait to see her living her best life with her new family! Genesis, 5 year old, spayed female, pit bull mix, 50 pounds. Genesis is in a boarding home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out to state once an approved adopter is lined up! Like so many of our pets, Genesis was saved from the local animal shelter in Houston where she collected amazing notes from the ACTs and volunteers. Every one who met her fell in love and it is clear to see why - she really is just the bestest and sweetest girl. Genesis lives in a home with other large dogs and has done well. Sometimes she does get overly excited seeing dogs on a leash and needs a little help picking up on cues to stop playing. With time and proper introductions, Genesis can integrate with other dogs without incident, but is not cat friendly. This beauty has been around kids as young as 2yrs and looooves getting pet, pawing at or jumping up, so older kids may be a better fit for her at this time. In general, we recommend homes with children over the age of 10yrs or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. Genesis does really well in a crate and is allowed to be loose in the house, as she doesn't chew on things she shouldn't. She is a counter surfer so things should be kept away! She's had a few accidents in the house and her new home should be willing to be patient as she learns the routine and schedule. As a general rule of the foster, Genesis is fed separately from all the other animals. She has growled when the resident pups get close to her food but has not exhibited any food aggression toward people. You can handle her toys, bones and treats without issue. She doesn't care much about toys while outside but loves herself a good squeaky toy! Genesis is a low energy kind of gal - she loves to just hang out near her human and will paw at you for affection. She doesn't need much: a walk or two if you feel so inclined and all the hugs and pets and loves you can offer! She's super laid back and makes for an impeccable snuggle buddy. While Genesis would enjoy having a canine sibling, she is equally content to be the only love of your life. She enjoys sunbathing and cuddling up next to you, and is happy to play dress up in any ridiculous costume you may have. She can be shy when first meeting strangers but warms up pretty quickly - especially if a treat or belly rub is offered! :) Genesis is ready and waiting to finally find her forever family! Please let us know if she might be the one for you. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Celine Dion – a stunning 4-year-old Greyhound/Lab mix with a personality as big as her name! Weighing in around 58 pounds, Celine was rescued from the euthanasia list at a Houston shelter and has been thriving ever since in her loving foster home in North Carolina. She’s spayed, healthy, and available for out-of-state adoption once matched with an approved adopter—transport can be arranged to bring this superstar home to you! Celine is joyful, curious, and always ready for fun. She brings a playful spark wherever she goes—whether it’s romping in the yard with dog friends, chasing her favorite toy, or exploring new places. Her ideal playmates are other large dogs who enjoy an energetic buddy and don’t mind a little bounce in their step. She’d also be perfectly happy as the center of attention in a home where she can get plenty of activity and enrichment. This sweet girl is making great strides with her leash manners and training. She’s crate trained, housebroken, and settles quickly after an initial burst of excitement when it’s time for a walk. She’s eager to please and motivated by treats, which makes her a fun and responsive learner. Celine adores people and has done wonderfully around her foster’s 12-year-old child. She gets so excited to say hello that she sometimes forgets her size—but she’s learning to greet people more gently and is improving every day. Because of her enthusiasm, we recommend a home with kids over 10 who are comfortable around playful, happy dogs. She’s respectful with toys and food, shows no guarding behavior, and enjoys being near her humans for affection, praise, and snuggles. In the car, she may pant at first, but she’s gaining confidence with each ride—and a few more adventures will help her become a travel pro. Celine would thrive in an active home with room to stretch her legs, regular walks, and loving guidance to help her keep growing into her best self. Whether she’s your one-and-only or joins a friendly pack, she’s ready to fill your days with laughter, companionship, and love. Ready to be serenaded daily with joy and tail wags? How Do I Find Adoptable Dogs Near Me?

To find pets in your area, start by visiting our homepage and selecting your state or city. You can then browse available dogs by age, breed, or size. Each listing includes details such as the pet’s personality, medical history, and the adoption organization’s contact information so you can connect directly with them.

Does DogFix Charge for Adoption Listings?

No. Accessing information on DogFix is completely free. However, adoption fees may be charged by the shelter, rescue, or adoption agency to help cover the cost of care, vaccinations, and spaying/neutering. These fees vary depending on the organization and the dog.

What Should I Know Before Adopting a Dog?

Adopting a dog is a long-term commitment. Before applying, consider factors like the time you can dedicate to exercise and training, your living space, and your financial ability to cover food, veterinary care, and other needs. Our website offers guides and resources to help you prepare for a smooth transition.

Is the Information About Dogs on DogFix Accurate?

We work closely with shelters and rescues to keep our listings as up-to-date and accurate as possible. However, since adoption availability changes quickly, we recommend reaching out directly to the listed organization to confirm details and availability before making a decision.
