This handsome 5-year-old neutered male Pitbull mix is currently thriving in his foster home in HOUSTON, TX, and can be transported to an approved adopter anywhere his perfect family may be. Sunny’s name says it all—he’s a bright ray of sunshine who lights up every room he enters. With his energetic personality and eagerness to please, Sunny is a loving companion who will be your biggest cheerleader in life. He’s been living with a professional trainer, where he has mastered basic commands like sit, down, stay, and place. He’s both crate-trained and housetrained, making him an easy addition to your home. Sunny’s love language? Treats, of course! His food motivation makes continued training a breeze. Sunny has a playful and outgoing personality, and he’s met plenty of dogs during his time in rescue. While he gets along best with balanced, calm dogs who can match his play style, he’d also be perfectly happy as the one and only furry king of his castle. He loves to play and run, so an active buddy or a family ready to throw a ball or two would make him very happy. He’s curious about cats in the neighborhood but hasn’t lived with them yet, and he’s best suited for a home with kids aged 12 and older due to his size and enthusiastic, wiggly nature. On walks, Sunny is a star! He walks nicely on a leash and only pulls when he spots another dog because he’s so excited to say hello. A quick redirection is all he needs to get back on track. At home, Sunny is an affectionate cuddlebug who enjoys lounging in his crate with the door open or snuggling up close to his favorite humans. He loves chewing on toys and bones, and his moderate energy level means he’s up for a walk or playtime, followed by some quality relaxation. Sunny is incredibly smart and thrives in a home where he can continue to learn and bond with his people. He’s happiest with someone who is home more often than not, as he loves to be by your side. Left unsupervised, his curious nature might lead him to “inspect” countertops for treasures, but with a little guidance and a treat or two, he’s quick to learn. Most importantly, Sunny’s heart is as big as his paws. He’s a loyal, goofy, and loving boy who dreams of a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will brighten your days with tail wags and kisses, Sunny is ready to fill your home with love. Are you ready to let Sunny shine in your life? Monty

If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Monty, 3 year 8 month old, neutered male, pit bull/American bully mix, 59 pounds. Monty is in TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! He was saved from a shelter in San Antonio and has been through so much during his short life - he was found on running the streets underweight, with patchy hair and unsocialized around other dogs. Thanks to his foster instilling lots of foundational work, Monty has proven the resilience of a dog. Monty is your standard bully breed - lots of energy and a high play drive. He is neutral to other dogs when first introduced but warms up and really enjoys rough housing and wrestling. He would do best with a submissive pup as he can be rather bossy when it comes to play, but he is confident enough in himself to not require a canine sibling. He's been around male and female dogs and never shown any signs of aggression, but we do believe he’d do best as your one and only pup. Monty will require an active home where he will get physical exercise - not just walks but *play* time and mental stimulation - whether that be through training or "brain" games. He really values food and tug, and these have made training more rewarding for him & his foster. He knows sit, touch, place and off, as well as what a 'time out' means (calming down so play can resume). While not a formal heel, Monty knows how to loose leash walk next to you, pulling minimally. Monty responds very well to mild correction and positive reinforcement, so we don't think "formal" training is required to achieve positive behaviors. Monty has been around the foster's neighbors' kids (ages 3 and 5yrs) and did well. While they were jumping on the trampoline and having fun, Monty looked to his foster for guidance on how to proceed. We typically recommend home with kids over the age of 10yrs, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. With proper supervision to ensure he doesn't get too animated, we believe Monty can safely be around small children. We have no history with cats. Monty is fully house trained and has not had any accidents in the home. He is crated when unable to be supervised and now enjoys his kennel, thanks in large part to his foster creating positive associations with the space. Monty should be fed away from other animals as he does tend to resource guard food. He allows his person to handle or remove food but he does not like to share. As a rule of his foster, toys are not left loose in communal spaces. Monty does need a good fence, he can jump anything under 5' and will push under a fence if not secured. Like most bully breeds, Monty is very people-oriented and loves human interaction. Overall he is pretty chill but would thrive with a breed experienced adopter willing to put in the time to provide structure and routine, enforce boundaries and additional training. He is very eager to please and catches on quickly. Anyone should be ecstatic to add this guy to their home and the sky is the limit with him! He has the sweetest demeanor and clearly the most perfect set of ears either side of the Mississippi. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Chip, 2-year-old, neutered male, Pit bull mix, 60 lbs. Chip is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS, and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! As sweet as a chocolate chip cookie, our lovely boy Chip is searching for his forever home! Chip is a playful, curious, and loving dog looking for an experienced adopter who can provide patience, safety, and endless love. Chip is a certified lover boy who loves to cuddle and be around his people! He’s a Velcro dog and will be your shadow everywhere you go. When he first meets new people, Chip can be a bit cautious, but once he trusts you, he’ll be your best friend forever! Chip adores his people, loves to go on sniffing walks (and does well on the leash), is crate-trained and potty-trained, and loves to be outdoors! Chip has done well with his foster dog siblings, who are calm and enjoy his play style. Chip LOVES to play, and he plays his heart out, so we highly recommend using slow introductions to other dogs and think he would do best with more calm/submissive doggy siblings that would be happy to engage with him in his play. He would also do well as an only dog in the house if he could go on outings every so often. Chip does ask that he not live with any cats, please. Chip’s ideal humans would enjoy having him be their right-hand man, and would understand that when he’s left home alone, he can be anxious without his family. However, he has been working on his separation anxiety and can be crated when left home alone. Chip would thrive with a family that can keep up with his training, and he would love to work with you! Chip would also happily accompany you on your outings- he is thrilled to go on car rides, go on walks out and about, and see the world with his people! At home, once he has finished the initial decompression period, Chip will go full puppy mode and play with all the toys. He has also done well around older children! He is in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. This sweet gentleman of a pup is ready for forever! If you’re looking for a well behaved, lovable family member, Henry is the one for you. He’s past the crazy puppy stage and just needs a comfy bed, stuffies to destroy and lots of cuddles to be content. Henry really enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine sibling in the home. He is on the submissive side and has done well with dogs of all sizes, greeting them with a smile and a wagging tail! We do not have any information about cats at this time. Henry hasn’t been around kids, but because of his gentle nature, he’d probably do well with older kiddos in the home. This good natured fellow is crate and potty trained and walks well on a leash. Other than his beloved toys, he has not destroyed anything in his foster home. He really is practically perfect! Mylo

*****Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*********** We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Mylo – a 4-year-old, neutered, 44-pound Cattle Dog mix with a tongue that just can’t be tamed and a heart that’s even bigger. Currently in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS, Mylo is ready to transport out of state once his forever family is approved and ready to fall in love. Let’s start with the obvious: Mylo has a perma-blep. That’s right—his tongue is just a little too long for his mouth, and it’s almost always peeking out like he’s mid-lick or permanently saying, “hi.” A vet has checked it out and confirmed there’s nothing wrong—he was just born with extra tongue and endless flavor to sample. It doesn’t cause him pain, but it does mean he occasionally needs a little extra hydration. He also has a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage—again, no cause for concern, just more proof that this boy was truly “born this way.” We like to say he’s one part goofball, one part model, and 100% original. Mylo is an affectionate, silly, and curious guy who loves to play and explore. He has a bit of that classic Cattle Dog energy—he thrives with daily activity, enjoys long walks, and loves a good romp in the yard. He plays well with dogs of all sizes and currently lives in a multi-dog home with pups ranging from tiny Chihuahuas to an 80-pound Boxer mix. He does well reading other dogs’ social cues and adjusts his play accordingly. He’s also very vocal when he plays or gets excited—growling, grunting, and making silly noises are just part of his charm. Once you get to know him, you’ll realize it’s just his voice, not a sign of anything aggressive. He enjoys meeting new dogs on walks, though he might sound a little intense at first—again, that vocal streak—but he’s friendly and well-mannered. He’s shown some interest in chasing cats, so to be safe, a feline-free home is best. Mylo has met children of various ages through his foster family and has done well overall. Due to his occasional jumping and enthusiasm, we recommend a home with older kids (10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to interact with an active dog. He’s loving and playful, and with continued positive training, will only improve his manners. This boy LOVES walks and has a zest for getting out and about. He can pull on leash when excited, so a no-pull harness or Gentle Leader may help make walks more enjoyable. He’s fully house trained and has been trusted to stay loose when unsupervised, usually sticking to his gated area and dog bed like a gentleman. While he hasn’t been crated in his foster home, he’s done very well with the freedom and would likely thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, or with a flexible schedule. Mylo is currently fed separately from the other dogs—not because he’s aggressive, but because he prefers not to share his snacks or special treats. (Honestly, who among us does?) With his people, though, he’s playful, cuddly, and incredibly affectionate. He greets his foster dad with enthusiastic hops and playful vocalizations, looking like the happiest dog in the world—with his tongue hanging out and his tail wagging in full swing. He’s also very smart and responsive to redirection. He listens when called, loves being praised, and wants so badly to be a good boy. Like many herding breeds, he thrives on routine and benefits from clear communication and a bit of structure. He may occasionally flinch at quick movements or new objects (like a broom), so a patient home that understands his background and lets him settle in at his own pace will help him feel his best. Here’s what Mylo is hoping for in his forever home: - A moderately active family with a yard or access to one where he can run, sniff, and sunbathe - A few good walks a day or fetch sessions to burn energy and keep him happy - A family who will give him tons of love, belly rubs, and attention - People who embrace his quirky personality and celebrate his uniqueness - Continued support with basic manners like jumping and treat-taking (he’s already working on it!) - A home with older kids (10+) and maybe a friendly dog buddy or two - And most importantly: a soft place to land and be loved for exactly who he is Mylo is a one-of-a-kind pup with a silly smile, a loyal heart, and so much love to give. He’s smart, affectionate, endlessly goofy, and ready to find a family who sees his magic. If you’re looking for a lovable sidekick who will keep you laughing, snuggling, and moving, Mylo might be the perfect match for you. ___ **Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Comet, 3 year old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix, 56 pounds. Comet is in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Comet AKA Buddy was saved from the county shelter in San Antonio, having been rescued from the streets with a friend, Essie. Both dogs were saved by Dizzy and are currently in foster homes. Buddy lives with another (female) dog and would be happiest in a home where he has a sibling to snuggle and play with. He was initially wary when being introduced but now is very friendly and playful. He has a fairly high but not obnoxious energy level and loves to run the zoomies. He has a really solid playstyle and has shown no food/resource aggression around the resident dogs. Buddy has been around indoor cats and kids, and does well with both but it should be noted, he has a bit of herding instinct in him. We typically recommend a home with kids aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Buddy is fully house, crate and leash trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night and does not whine or cry, and he does not pull on the leash. Since going into foster, he has not had any accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Buddy doesn't appear to have any issues with separation anxiety but is crated when he isn't able to be supervised because his one vice is loving to chew - he's chewed two dog beds so far! While he has made strong strides in the time he's been in a foster home, Buddy is still wary of men in particular. He does love his foster dad, so if his new home is willing to be patient and consistent, Comet will come around. Buddy's favorite thing is to please, so he has been easy to train and does not require hard corrections. He is very sweet, affectionate and seeks out cuddles, happy to be anywhere with you. He is a resilient and adaptable dog who is looking for his forever buddy! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. Loki is a big sweetheart with just enough of his namesake’s mischievousness to keep you entertained! This big guy is a huge fan of tug toys and squeaky plushies, but Kongs are his favorite! He really enjoys a high energy romp with the other dogs in the home, followed by cuddles and belly rubs from his humans. When Loki is excited, he does a "prance" like he’s part puppy, part parade pony. He does a playful spin when you grab the leash and has the silliest little happy hop when he sees another dog friend! And his tail? It curls like a swirl on an ice cream cone—or a cinnamon bun. It’s the cutest thing ever! He is still mastering his leash and puppy manners, and will benefit from consistent training and positive reinforcement. He is crate and potty trained, and shares food and toys with no issues. He will do best in a high-energy, loving home where he is stimulated physically, mentally and emotionally. He needs a family or individual who can provide daily walks and lots of affection. A fenced yard would be a bonus for zoomies and outdoor play, or daily active neighborhood strolls. He’d do best with another playful dog to bond with and help burn off that puppy energy. While he’s great with children, he’d be happiest with older kids or respectful young teens who understand boundaries and can match his enthusiastic personality. He is in foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Puppies under 6 months of age are placed on a spay/neuter contract until they are old enough to be altered. Valentino is a big, lovable boy with a playful spirit and a big appetite for fun (and treats!). He’s super food-motivated, which makes training a breeze, and he absolutely loves his toys and romping around with other dogs. Valentino gets along great with kids and is always up for an exciting adventure. After all the fun, he turns into the ultimate snuggle bug—sweet, cuddly, and ready to snooze by your side. He’s growing fast and stealing hearts even faster! We do not know Valentino’s exact breed but we suspect he will be a large dog once fully grown. His best fit will be with a family that understands what it means to raise a big, active pup into a well-mannered adult. We’re looking for adopters who will provide him with regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. If you work outside of the home longer than 4 hours, please explain who will is available to spend time with this puppy while you are away. In addition, we provide resources and guidance to support you throughout the adoption journey.

How Do I Find Adoptable Dogs Near Me?

To find pets in your area, start by visiting our homepage and selecting your state or city. You can then browse available dogs by age, breed, or size. Each listing includes details such as the pet’s personality, medical history, and the adoption organization’s contact information so you can connect directly with them.

Does DogFix Charge for Adoption Listings?

No. Accessing information on DogFix is completely free. However, adoption fees may be charged by the shelter, rescue, or adoption agency to help cover the cost of care, vaccinations, and spaying/neutering. These fees vary depending on the organization and the dog.

What Should I Know Before Adopting a Dog?

Adopting a dog is a long-term commitment. Before applying, consider factors like the time you can dedicate to exercise and training, your living space, and your financial ability to cover food, veterinary care, and other needs. Our website offers guides and resources to help you prepare for a smooth transition.

Is the Information About Dogs on DogFix Accurate?

We work closely with shelters and rescues to keep our listings as up-to-date and accurate as possible. However, since adoption availability changes quickly, we recommend reaching out directly to the listed organization to confirm details and availability before making a decision.
