Olive
Young • Female • Medium
OLIVE DOB: Approx. 11/15/24 Female, 8 lbs. Olive was a community cat that grew up in a neighborhood near Newark where she was fed by the neighbors, played with by the children in the neighborhood, but who was never taken in and made a part of a family. She was always just the neighborhood cat. She is the sweetest and friendliest little girl, barely more than a kitten herself when she had her four babies: Hunter, Sage, Jade and Forrest. She protected those babies and hid them under the deck of one of the homes and brought them out to show to everyone once they were old enough to be carried out from under the deck. PetPromise picked Olive and the babies up with the hope that all of these sweet kitties would have the chance to have homes and families of their own and not just be a “neighborhood cat.” Olive is the sweetest girl. She takes such good care of her babies but she adores people and attention. She loves being inside and will jump up to be with you and watch television in your lap to make sure that you wont leave her. She is so glad to be inside and loved and would love nothing more than to have a family of her own. ---- If you are interested in learning more about this sweet kitty, please complete an online adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046 We do not have a shelter or sanctuary. Merida
Young • Female • Medium
MERIDA DOB: ~04/15/2023 Female, 10lbs Like her buddies/roommates, Cheese and Killian, Merida was rescued from a life outdoors walking, hiding and trying to find food and shelter. She, along with Cheese and Killian had been living together near the dumpsters by some apartments on Sawmill Road. The three of them lived together there for over a year before we heard about them and went out to help on one cold February day. Merida was the youngest of the three. She is shy like the others but loves all other cats, is afraid but curious about her foster family. She follows them around and watches from a distance. She peeks out at them from her cat tree or from behind the computer monitor…but she won’t let them pet her yet. She loves the kittens that are fostered and plays with them and is a sweet little girl that has just been through a lot in her short young life. We are hoping that with time she will learn to trust people and know that she is finally safe. --- If you are interested in learning more about this cat, please complete an online adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046 We do not have a shelter or sanctuary. Abigail (Abby)
Young • Female • Small
ABIGAIL (ABBY) DOB: Approx. 08/05/2024 Female, 6.5 lbs. Say hello to the cutest little Cow Kitty (black & White cow markings) ever. This little girl is so petite though full grown physically. She was obviously dumped near a bar in Gahanna when the employees began feeding her as a kitten. She lived under the table outside and waited for the scraps the employees would bring out to her. She lived out under some pine trees near the very busy Agler. In order to survive, she had to stay afraid, be fast, and hide and stay out of sight as much as she could. When the bar owner told his people to stop feeding her because she was a nuisance, they called PetPromise. Worried that since she was 5-6 months old that she could already be pregnant, we went to work and trapped her that day. She was very afraid and scared when we got her to her foster home. She was taken in to the vet two days later and came back spayed (she wasn't pregnant) and still afraid. But by day 7 she was purring and rubbing. She likes people and we found that she loves cheek scratches, and back scratches and people A LOT. She is a gentle girl and is in a foster home with a number of other cats and is liked by all and she likes them all. She loves her foster family but can still be started if someone bangs something loud or comes at her too fast (she will duck as if she has been shooed away or hit at.) She is a lovely little girl who will blossom if she gets to be with people all of the time (she is locked upstairs with other foster cats and gets limited attention even though she would love to have much more.) She is still a baby and will be the perfect girl to add to your family if you will commit to care for her and love her for the next 15-20 years! ---- If you are interested in learning more about this sweet kitty, please complete an online adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046 We do not have a shelter or sanctuary. Noah
Adult • Male • Large
Sweet Noah has had a horrible horrible life and he is the sweetest boy. He once must have had a loving indoor home because he sat at the windows of homes in the small town outside Dayton…longingly looking in and begging with little paws on the windows to be let in. The residents in the town put food out for him but there were many outdoor kitties in the area…so many thought he had a home somewhere. Then one day two unleashed large dogs rushed into the yard where Noah was sitting and broke into the fenced area where he ran for cover. A neighbor came out screaming when she saw the two dogs viscously attacking Noah and she rushed to his rescue. Noah was barely alive when he was rushed to the vet. He almost lost an eye and went through a long recovery period where even the vet wasn’t sure he would make it. But the sweet strong loving boy lifted his little head one day and head bumped the neighbor that rescued him when she visited and they all knew he was fighting hard to stay alive. He recovered…and during his recovery it was discovered that he had FIV (which is the cat version of human AIDs.). While cats with FIV can live long healthy lives, it is an immuno deficiency disease that means that viruses that other cats can quickly overcome can be deadly to him. And while FIV is not easy to pass to other cats (it requires a bite wound to transfer to another cat) being around healthy cats that carry even minor viruses or being in a home where there is a lot of change or stress can cause the FIV to become full blown FIV. So poor Noah…just when it looked like he may finally have a good future ahead has been served another round of bad luck. Who would ever adopt him knowing that he will need to be in a nice calm home without a lot of stress, without a lot of other cats, in a home where he will need to see the vet for blood tests at least once a year to make sure everything is okay inside. Now Noah has to be labeled as a special needs cat …and that means that he will most likely be overlooked when people are picking out a kitty to adopt. Noah deserves more than this for the rest of his life. Could you give this sweet boy…a boy who loves everyone but who has had a horrible life so far…a home where he can be lived and protected? If you can give him a chance to have happiness for the rest of his sweet life, please complete an Adoption Application!- https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046
Louie
Adult • Male • Large
Louie is the sweetest cat you will ever meet. This big bundle of love (he's a pudge but a big teddy bear as soon as he knows he is safe!) Louie became part of a little community of cats that was being fed by a group of neighbors in teh short north area. He loved people, visited everyone, and showed up where he knew he could find dinner. He lived in that neighborhood, happily accepting any love and any food he could get for almost four years before one of the neighborhood caregivers noticed that he wasn't eating well. That he was shaking his head when he was eating. Checking his mouth (yes this little guy who had been living on his own under decks, in little shelters made by the neighbors, living on the food he could find going door to door, allowed the neighbor to open his mouth and check his teeth. They were bad, she could see. So she contacted PetPromise and asked if we could take him in due to the severity of the dental issues she saw. We knew we couldn't leave him outside fending for himself with the condition his mouth was in so we took him in and took him in to be seen by the vet. He was already neutered (so at some point in his life he was loved and was someone's baby), he definitely needed serious dental care (as expected) but we also found out that the big sweet boy with the sad face (his face always looks sad even though his a very happy boy) has FIV. Yest another blow for Louie. Now his chances of ever finding his own home became less likely. Even though studies have shown that cats with FIV+ can live a happy normal life that is as long as the average cat (with proper care and follow up for any issues that arise before they become serious) and that FIV+ cats can live very happily with non-FIV+ cats so long as they cats live peacefully together (FIV is passed primarily through bite wounds and does not spread through shared litterboxes food or households) we knew that fewer people would choose him when picking out their new family member. We hope you won't feel this way. Louie is a gentle angel. He loves everyone (especially ladies and girls...it takes him longer to warm up to men...and children.) He has not been around dogs, but he is a sweetheart to other cats. He is gentle and lays with them, rubs on them and is the all-around best friend for other friendly cats. He always has a sad little face...but we can assure you he is a happy little guy. He follows his lady fosters around rubbing on their legs, jumps up on the bed to be petted, and has the loudest purr. He is a very special boy and will make a perfect love for someone out there. Can it be you? MILO
Adult • Male • Medium
MILO (FIV+) RUSSIAN BLUE MIX MALE DOB: 06/24/2024 Milo was a kitten born outside to a community cat mother at an apartment complex on the eastside. Milo grew up being held by neighborhood children, petted by the neighbors, feed by many that lived in the apartments. He grew up loved and part of the community of cats that lived there. He had happy days being petted, laying in the sun as people came and went but each night as the neighbors went home to their warm apartments with their families, Milo was left outside to find a place to sleep where it was warm and safe from the dangers of the outdoors. Day after day, Milor followed the people around hoping that someone would pick him up and take him home for good. But even though he felt loved, he never had the chance to be part of a family, to feel safe, to be someone's and not just a "community cat." When we were asked to rescue the very sweet and loving young cat, we knew when we met him hat he was special. He came right to us, thrilled to jump into our laps and jumped right into the car when we got in...he was ready for a new life. But then Milo (just when his luck was changing) got a devastating blow: He tested positive for FIV. Now we know that FIV+ cats, with diligent vet care and good nutritious food and a low stress environment, FIV cats can live just as long as a non-FIV+ cat....and they can even live with other non-FIV+ cats! But the issue is that this means that the chances of Milo finally finding the home he has been waiting his whole young life for....will be so much more unlikely...because he is FIV+ and people do not know what that means. For this reason we are so sad for this perfect young cat. That his chances for a great home just went down. Please don't over look this amazing boy just because he is FIV+ Could this be your sign that he is your cat and that he has been waiting for you? Patrick
Adult • Male • Medium
PATRICK DOB: ~11/15/2017 Male, 9 LB Patrick is a sweet little gentleman that is extremely shy. He was part of a hoarding case that we were part of in Gahanna. He was living in a home with 20+ cats and with another 40-50 living outdoors in shelters and the garage when his owner was officially diagnosed with Alzheimers. When she passed away, we moved in to rescue the ones we could catch, and trap the others. Many of the 74 cats and kittens were placed in barn homes throughout Ohio after they were spayed and neutered. Patrick was gentle and sweet and had been one of the indoor pets. However, he proved to be very very shy. He hid for months in his foster home and would not allow people to pet him for almost a year. He was so afraid. Today he enjoys his life in a foster home with other cats. He loves to be petted (but is very nervous even with people he knows)…but he comes over for scratches, pets and back rubs whenever his fosters walk into the room where he is. We don’t know what he had been through in his home with his owner as she lived with Alzheimer’s for several years before she passed away. He may never be adopted but he is living a happy safe life and we love his sweet little face…and we know he loves us right back. ---- If you are interested in learning more about this cat, please complete an online adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046 We do not have a shelter or sanctuary.
